i wonder though, is it just the yellow?...will them in green change our opinions?

 

I really think it's just the flash photography. That'll cheapen anything.

 

I think the yellow is a large part of why they look KOish to me. I'm hoping they look a lot more like constructicons to me in green. (I don't have any connection to the G2 coloration)

I also think that the decals look stylistically KOish. I'm not commenting on the quality of the decals (materials, application, etc.) but that they visually look like the style of something I would see on the shelf at Big Lots.

 

Herc still achieves the win for me. Right color, right sculpts, right price (ahem..well, sorta), right articulation, right transformation, etc. So far, Giant is just not all that.

 

Yeah, if you look at TFC Scavenger in the same pictures, he also looks cheaper than he really is. I bet they'll be leagues better in hand (and in green!)

totally agreed...Herc wins for me hands down in all modes...though i still love Giants combined mode, just not as much as Hercules...right now, in yellow, the Giant bots aren't doing squat for me, but the alt modes are pretty nice...

 

im actaully a little discouraged at the moment i was hoping for a way to attatch scavengers scoop arm to his back and a way for bonecrusher to but the dozer blade on his chest and hide the driver cabin.

i still await a green colored prototype of these as i think it will help but at the moment these 2 are a little off

 

We've seen the yellow KO Devi for so long, that any yellow Devi is going to look like a KO, even if it's the official G2 Devi.

I'll wait for the green versions, and grab those. FP Bruticus is tired of standing next to Constucticon Maximus.

 

I like how this ones looking. I like both bot and alt modes so far and yes the connector showing on the back is a little strange but not too much to discourage me on getting this  

 

I really don't think that that's fair (the bolded part). In all fairness, there are only a few pictures of Giant and it's 6 components around, plus this review, which is just okay, IMO.

I honestly do not understand all of the negativity towards Giant, or why there seems to be a competition between Hercules and Giant. I personally think that both Hercules and Giant are awesome.

The one thing that TFC unquestionably handled better is the combiner ports.

Wow, those things are eye-sores in robot mode.

Yeah, definitely ripping those bits out and not going to touch the combination on these guys.

 

I think both not-Devys are quite admirable attempts to give the fans what they've been asking for for a long time. Major kudos to TFC and Make Toys for having the guts and stamina to make it happen.

Some folks need a team to root for. Their lives aren't complete unless they're in, or associating themselves with, some sort of competition. Hooray for our side!!! We're better than you.

 

Not so fast. It remains to be seen which combiner pieces will stand up to the most transformations. I've already read about people picking up their Hercules and Structor just falls right off. Eyesores they may be but the port on the back of Structor in bot mode isn't exactly eye candy either.

 

It also helps to reaffirm decisions we've made. By putting our faith in a product, we see the success of that product as an extension of our ability to evaluate; it becomes personal. If we have our money down on Hercules, or course we're going to want it to be the better not-Devastator.

That said, I'm on team Giant-is-probably-a-"better"-toy-but-I-like-what-Hercules-is-trying-to-accomplish-more.

You pretty much summed it up for me in your last line.

I think in the end I will like Giant more but Hercules, being the first, will always hold a special place in my heart.

Also Hercules has the megathread of memories attached to it, it has been a jounrey. Giant seems like it will just be out and purchased, so a lot less story and emotion attached to it.
