Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you from the Las Vegas area, know if there are any open jobs. I'm eighteen and i'm kind of hurting for work, not even McDonalds has hired me (Sad, I know.) and I have no idea what to do.

If McDonalds isn't hiring you I would recoomend reworking your resume and REALLY polishing up on your interview skills.

I thought you were talking about Mafia Wars for a second.

If you *really* need money and fast, then register with a agency that supplies cleaners (dunno if you have those where you are). You'll end up wiping up puke from nightclubs, but hey money is money.

Correct. If I remember correctly it's over 15% in Vegas itself.

If you do want a job, you're really going to have to work at it, and prove to a prospective employer that you're the best person for the job.

I am in Vegas, working, and have some bad news for you.

Las Vegas unemployment falls to 13.7 percent - Business - ReviewJournal.com

The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported that joblessness in the Silver State eased off of its record levels from December to January, dropping from 15.1 percent to 13.7 percent in Las Vegas -- the first time since March 2010 that local unemployment fell below 14 percent -- and from 14.9 percent to 14.2 percent statewide.

Joblessness dropped year over year too: Unemployment in January 2010 was 15.4 percent in Las Vegas and 14.6 percent across the state.

It dropped to 13.7 percent. 13.7 percent is an improvement. Oh. and that's not entirely accurate.

But the improvements came not from job growth but from steep drops in the number of workers seeking positions in Nevada. The Silver State lost 54,800 workers year over year in January, with 41,200 of those lost workers coming from Las Vegas. That is a 4 percent contraction in the state's labor pool and a 4.2 percent decline in the local work force.

Counting the workers who've just given up? Maybe as high as 22 percent, overall.

I'm in a rather grey area business, the adult industry. We're just starting to turn it around this year and frankly, most of our revenue is from online sales.

It's brutal out there, still, I'm afraid.

    Let's see...
    • no work experience (most legit employers don't want any one with under the table experience)
    • lousy job market

You've got your work cut out for you. In a tight economy like this, people apply for jobs beneath their skill level which includes entry level jobs like McDonalds. They probably had a bunch of applicants with prior work experience apply for the job you didn't get.

I would check with family & friends to see if anybody knows of any employment opportunities that would work out for you. Another idea is to make your own work based on skills that you already have. Like mowing lawns, fixing computers, etc.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

Well, i'm not going to lie. I was hoping somebody with connections on the boards could help me out.

Because pretty much the system is pretty much, apply and wait/pray.

Also, Aeranoth. Due to personal reasons, the Military is not an option.

Oh oh oh let's try and guess... is it obesity? Or autism? PERHAPS BOTH?

I'm just messing wit' ya'. Real advice would be to try and move away from Nevada? Otherwise maybe try to find a data entry job, although I don't know if those industries exist out there...
