Half Life would require A LOT of tweaking to work on the big screen. It would require a really big suspension of disbelief for most people to believe that scientist with a shiny suit no military experience can outfight an alien invasion AND the Marines. I would love to see Gordon Freeman kicking ass, but I can see it turning into a complete farce.
It sounds more like Valve is NOT experimenting with making a Half-Life movie, if you read the article all the way through.
Which is good, since Half-life is 100% first-person, and no way would they have a movie where the main character doesn't make a sound. Plus, the entire draw of Half-life's story is the immersion, the interactivity. A movie can't have that. Wasn't this brought up a few years back?
^ Oh, wow. Yeah I never saw that before. Personally, I really don't know if I'd want to see an actual Half-Life movie. Not unless it's being done by someone who is approaching it from the standpoint of the fiction, and not just setting out to make another "video game movie". I say if they were going to do it, then get Neill Blomkamp. Heck, District 9 practically almost felt like it could have been a Half-Life movie. I support this.
