Hi can anyone tell me how much a AFA Graded Shatter Glass Optimus Prime Botcon 2012 is worth? I had one sent out for grading and it came back as U90. I had them open the baggie and grade it. Please let me know
    Thanks :thumb

I thought the item would grade better as uncirculated then them grading the item in the baggie.

    Grade

I had it grade loose because it was in a heat sealed bag. If they had to grade it in the bag they would grade it based on the condition of the bag. But also keep in mind that it's marked as uncirculated. And this item was from the 2012 Botcon so not many are made.

If you're buying a toy as an investment, you're doing it wrong.

I'm going to argue that it's worth less than a MISB one because it was opened, regardless of whether or not it was graded. MISB collectors want MISB figures. Loose collectors want something they can open and touch.

Graded collectors don't even collect that kind of stuff. Every time someone grades a modern figure as an investment, they hear the same answer. It's not a super ultra mega increase in value. The collector mentality already set in. Owning a graded modern figure is nowhere near the same as owning a graded BW figure or a graded G1 figure.

I would tend to agree with alot of the concensus on here the value of the figure is only going to be marginal now but if you sit on it then you could see the increase down the line depending on how many of the 2000 made survive.

if you are hoping it will one day be worth as much as the original SG Optimus Prime your likely to be disappointed as the 2012 SG Optimus isn't from what i have seen desired nearly as much as the original.

Rarity in of its self is no guarantee of value. I am not saying it will have no value but i do not seeing it rising to level of the original SG Optimus prime.

I don't understand the point in afaing modern toys that are easy to find. Was the plan to try and flip it to make extra cash?

I don't really planning on selling any time soon. I had it graded so it would be displayed better than it would in a sealed bag. So I bought the Shatter Glass Optimus Prime had it graded so if it did increase but 20 so far I'm happy cause eventually it will go up more and Moore as time goes on.

This toy I would not have graded, just it being in the bag will bring the same amount of value as it being graded. Now the G2 gobot optimus should be graded out of the two. But....they are your toys man, do what you want.

The display is nice, but I wouldn't expect a loose graded figure to get much more than a regular loose figure. How much does it cost to get it graded in the first place? Minus that from whatever you end up putting a value on this piece.

    Only time will tell.

It was $97 to get graded I asked for the fastest turn around time and had them put it in a UV case, plus shipping plus insurance.
