I say the real reason I don't like this at all is the possibility of NOT having Robert England play Freddy. He IS Freddy, period. It's not like Michael Myers or Jason where anyone fitting the right size can pull it off. Freddy is about the personalty and his great one-liners. I really don't think anyone else could pull it off.

I'd like to see cameos of the teens from previous Freddy movies as the parents of the new teens. Cameos/role reprisals always help me with the bitter pill of a franchise reboot. (Cullen FTW.)

And if Barack Obama is available he'd be a perfect Carlton.

That doesn't matter. I went in for Freddy vs. Jason. The rest of the movie could have been about My Little Pony so long as I had Freddy and Jason fight and Freddy/Jason are done right. And Freddy was done better than he had been in years.

I can say the same about you. You've bonded with a generic villain with no personality. But just because you've bonded with the original doesn't mean that's how it SHOULD be. Four out of six Freddy movies had him cracking jokes. That means having fun with killing is the majority.

I'm not saying that your opinion is WRONG, but most fans consider 3 to be a better all around movie, and a better FReddy, than the first. To most fans, THAT is Freddy. If you don't like it, that's fine. But I would point you to just go watch Hellraiser to see a talking evil that isn't fun on screen, just evil.

But I also have to question how you can say the Freddy in 3 isn't scary. It isn't a case of Freddy 3 and on. There are three different Freddy's. Freddy in the first two movies. Freddy in 3 and 4. Then the Freddy you actually are TALKING about, in 5 and 6. THe Freddy in 3/4 was able to be scary AND entertaining, whereas the Freddy in the other ends could only suceed at being one.

New Nightmare Freddy was basically a "scarier" version of the first Freddy, but was brought down due to Wes Craven not knowing how to write a decently paced movie. And still falls into the same line of generic. Dug the over-coat though.

Maybe Freddy's knive-claw-glove-things make people explode.

Not another remake. Leave old films and old franchises ALONE! Make some new stuff, for [deity]'s sake!!

Robert England said he didn't want to play the part of Freddy in the new movie. I guess he was/is soooooooooo busy being a security gaurd with Webster, that movies are soooo below him now...

Well, they did cast the perfect non-Englund guy to play Freddy.

We just rewatched the original in its glorious anniversary release with remastered etc, etc and it still scares the crap out of us, it holds up so well today, like it was made yesterday. A true classic that the term 'remake' should never be associated with. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Why not have it as a follow up? Just another in the series? Just to have Nancy in it again? I mean 'New Nightmare' was a great original idea by Craven, it worked so well and was realised brilliantly. 'Where can we go without really touching the established, somewhat corrupted, continuity? The real word!" and they did it well. Anyway, no remake, someone on another thread said it was overdue for one, imagine that!

    This is crazy.
It's like doing Saw again and Saw is up to number 6 or 7, right?
I think that this is a major bomb on the box office.
I just hope that there's some :bay

There are pics? I was at the WB panel at Comic Con. There was a teaser trailer, but it did not give you clear looks at Freddy's face. The voice is just the Rorshach voice again.

    Did official pictures come out?

This movie actually looks pretty good. Haley said that Freddy's new look is that of a real burn victim, and not some kind of cartoon pizza-face.
