Can't wait! He'll go great with my MP Starscream. Does Wal mart or HTS usually put exclusives like this on their websites? I don't really live near a Wal mart and I'd hate to make the drive on the off-chance that I'll actually find Skywarp >_<
Design aesthetic perhaps? I prefer them to be consistant there personally. You won't see this on HTS as it's a Wal-Mart exclusive. You might see it on Walmart.com though. Randy
I'll probably have to pass on this, unfortunately. I'm trying to stick to a tighter budget, and SW will probably be one of the casualties of this. Pity.
Somehow i like the Takara color version, but will def get it to modify like my Starscream...next project to work on...
Other than the detailing differences, the purple is more of a grape shade in the Takara version. I'm assuming you don't own one? The Takara version has these grayish markings that outline the wings as well as before the cockpit. I don't see them on the Hasbro version. There's also silver trim on the shoulders and forearms (again, this is something I don't see in the Hasbro version). There's also purple trim on the turbines in his chest. To be fair, many of those details are so subtle that you might not be able to make them out in the pics of the US version (assuming they're there to begin with). I do like the purple tailfins as well as the purple faction symbols and trim on the wings on the WM release. He's definitely more toon accurate. But as far as finer details go, the Takara version has more of that. But whatever.
Satomiblood--ah, gotcha. To me, all the numerous little subtle things don't counteract the fact that in jetmode he's 99% black and dark metallic grey. The G1-esque one is more colorful/contrasty, and to me, that "highlights" its shape much more IMHO. (I only have MP TC, and if I could, I'd remove all the no-step markings
(from Cinematastique in another MP Skywarp thread) Changes from Takara deco I've noticed: 1) Painted apps 2) Changed wing stripes 3) NO shoulder stripes 4) NO Chest stripes on the intakes 5) NO paint on the inside of the hip kibble 6) NO Forearm stripes 7) PURPLE tailfins, instead of black 8) SILVER shoulder spires, instead of black 9) ADDED paint apps on the inside of the shoulder spires 10) CHANGED missile deco -Also, the Right-side-up Decepticon insignia are inconsistent with WalScream; his were upside-down. Also, the wing stripe pattern is different; WalScream had the Takara MP-style wing stripes. All-in-all, the Takara version has a MUCH more elaborate deco. What the US version does have, though, are painted apps instead of decals, and added paint on the shoulder spires. The tradeoff seems negligible for Takara SW owners, since more deco is deducted than added.
I would also add the type of purple that was used. Takara's looks more like grape, whereas Hasbro's is more like the G1 toon and toy.
When this comes out, my parents will be wondering why I'm visiting so much. I'll never tell them that the four hour drive will let me hit about 8 walmarts in one day.
If the supply and distribution is as bad as the Starscream was you'd be better off asking friends on the board who live close to many Walmarts rather then driving the distance on the chance of finding him.
I'm certain he is. Which shouldn't be a problem with this figure as he's already all black. Every picture shows him without weathering (which would have to be gray or silver). Hopefully Hasbro is past the weathering their Masterpiece figure phase, as Skywarp seems to be decoed by someone different than the person who did their Starscream (but takes cues from SS). Randy
