If i remember correctly a lost package with tracking can get you a shipping refund. Without tracking I don't think a receipt does anything at all besides prove that you mailed something.
Excellent. I like the way you worded it. Very professional. That'll help your case even more. If he does respond, he'll sound like an ass to them, and that'll help sway them even more. I honestly don't want anyone to be out anything. I want him to have your money, you have to have his Grimlock, and peace back in place, I really do. I also want him to learn a valuable lesson so if he's legit, he'll keep himself on the straight and narrow, and if he's not, it's gonna cost him. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you should've known something was wrong when it took him three weeks to get it shipped. For that alone, I have to say you dropped the ball. I'd have involved Paypal right then and there.
i mean if the buyer opens the dispute in saying said item was not received, but the seller says to paypal look, he didnt pay for tracking and my receipt shows i was at the PO, paid and mailed the item. i dont know if paypal will say then to seller, well he has proof, nothing we can do and hope u get ur shit, or if they will side with the buyer.
Ah. Sorry. I'm pretty sure they will side with the buyer. Looking at one of my paypal transactions i see: We recommend that you: Ship to the buyer's address on this page Use a shipping service with signature confirmation Save all tracking information or other proof of shipment Reading the help areas it says to use carriers with online tracking and keep an online receipt in the forum of a signature (I assume for the packages with insurance).
I put del conf on everything. It's a no-brainer. Even if the post office does lose it, I never want anyone to be able to say "well you never sent it". This seller didn't want to spend 80 cents, and now it might cost him 80 bucks. If that ain't a great example of why tracking should go on every piece of mail that's ever sent, then I don't know what is.
Personally, when I sell something, I always put Delivery Confirmation on it. And if it's expensive, I make sure it's insured as well. Because it'll cost me less to spend a couple of extra bucks then, instead of possibly loosing all of it later.
OP has been remarkably quiet through all this, maybe he lost his ability to reply at the post office too? Also as a little tip: The USPS has free boxes, as stated before, I use them all the time even for lighter stuff. I wrap the boxes in brown wrapping paper then label and ship them, it takes the price waaaaaaay down. I had a flat rate box the other day, price was usually $10+ to ship anywhere, I wrapped it in brown paper and the cost for shipping it PRIORITY MAIL WITH DELIVERY CONFIRMATION COST ME LESS THAN $6. I'm the same way, though I usually charge for insurance because it cost a dollar or 2 if I recall correctly, but Delivery Confirmation I do for free. It's not just for the customer, it's for my safety as well.
Just be careful not to use the "free" Flat Rate boxes they provide for regular price calculated Priority shipping if you prepare it yourself. They will sometimes catch it and hold your buyer's package for ransom at the post office until they pay the price difference, even if the Priority rate was correct. They say it's to cover their costs of offering the boxes for free, but they have nearly identical Priority boxes they provide that are actually larger than the Flat Rate boxes, that will be much cheaper to ship in most cases. You can actually even have them mailed directly to your house, for free, from the USPS website. Just be sure to get the right ones.
You know, in retrospect....I'm glad he posted this thread. Now it's not hidden away in PM's. It's out in the open.
I would like to add that USPS will send you free boxes to your free of charge. Here it the link where you can get both regular and flat rate priority mail boxes.
this proves HP Lovecraft was pretty smart. "Do not call up that ye cannot put down." the seller started this with this thread, and the buyer has been able to show that things aren't exactly right on the seller's end. i hope this gets taken care of soon.
