Stuff happens and risk is part of buying over the web that is meant to be shipped. As for the claim, the post office might come right back to the shipper and say the item was insufficiently packaged, which does look to be the case. Either way, a good seller will make you whole in the short term and work it out with USPS in the long term.
That's not a great business strategy on the part of a shipping service. "Stuff happens" and "deal with it" are not things that customers are going to be happy to hear. "You used insufficient packing" is also not valid, because I don't recall them making a guarantee that "we'll ship your stuff fast and take care of it... as long as you add 40 lbs. of packing that we will also charge you for".
well I got a reply from the company and they said I would have to make a claim at the post office. they also said I would have to take the figure and all the shipping material up there as well. heres my problem. only reason I went w/ this company is cause tfsource and other higher rated companies were sold out of him. now if I go turn this one in whats the guarantee ill even get a replacement?? im really concerned about this. any ideas??
I feel really bad about how your package arrived..but if USPS decides to play hacky sack with your box, then what is the seller supposed to do about it? Good thing you insured it
it came from VNCToys.com and this was my 1st purchase from them. not what I had hoped for. I have the other 2 figures coming in tomorrow but they were purchased from TFsource so im pretty sure they will be ok. still got me worried.. im picturing usps playing football w/ my packages. NIGHTMARES NOW!!
Don't be surprised if the post office wants that insurance slip that the SELLER should have. This sounds backwards to me - I could've sworn that whoever BOUGHT the coverage had to make the claim. Where did you buy this from? Please let us all know so we can avoid them.
I thought that's the way it should go as well. Also, he said it was VNCToys.com, but I've never heard of them and probably never will now.
This isn't just some "shipper" but USPS, aka the Government. Not exactly the most customer friendly organization in the country. And why I said I never use them for anything worth more than $20.
Does designating a package as "fragile" (on top of insurance) even make a difference with USPS? Did it ever?
heres is the email i got back from them I dont know what to do.. I dont wanan lose the figure to only have to get it again at scalper prices.
This. Unless the Post Office doesn't work like almost every private shipping company, this is backwards. Of course the shipper will want to see proff of the damage, but the shipper is generally the one to start the claims process.
Well, they've been around for at least 2 years, according to the timestamp in this thread on HissTank: vnctoys.com - HissTank.com - G.I. Joe
Sorry but this is coming from an owner of broken iGear products who was able to get ZERO responses from them after emailing and facebooking them. Does that make me biased? That my personal experience with that company is total shit. I'll bash every iGear thread i see if I want. Maybe ill stop someone from buying their garbage.
Sounds like you are going to have to rebuy it in this case and hope that the Post Office accepts the claim. I would order a new one new and work through the reimbursement process in the meantime.
"Sue there asses for thousands." There is so much AH DER!!! in this comment. The insurance will cover the cost of the replacment. There would be no more money forthcoming. Please tone down the DER next time you post. Thanks
