Heya all! It's been a while since I've posted here. Since I got my Takara PG yesterday, thought I'd share pics with you all. (Mods, if this doesn't qualify for a separate topic please feel free to merge it)

Firstly, I must note that all my pics have him with my own weathering and touch ups done (like his black linings and eyes). I apologise for not taking pics of him in his original state.

The colour scheme kinda disappointed me, especially compared to HLJ's pics of himTransformers Universe Powerglide.

It's not *terrible*, don't get me wrong, but it's not quite as good as it could've been. The red is a bit brighter and more orange-y in person than the pics show under some lightings (but definitely not as bad as Walmart MP Screamer's), and due to that, all his great detail is kinda lost. He's quite literally a pile of red. He's still a decent toy, but I definitely recommend a nice black wash on him as he REALLY benefits from it.

One thing though, it's a bit tough for me to say whether he truly is better than the white US version (which I didn't get). I'm a little disappointed as had they used that darker red the HLJ pics had shown and if had a few more bits of white to break up some of the red, he'd have been the flat out better choice to me. As he is, he's still decent, and a great choice if you're sticky about G1 accuracy. But if you're on the fence, definitely give BOTH colours a good look first before you buy.

Nice review. I don't know which Powerglide to buy, so I'm getting the purple one.

Yeah, I've already got Storm Cloud on the way from HTS (they had him first and cheapest... hopefully it's not too dinged up, but I take my stuff out of the box anyways so... whatever) and if I like the mold enough once I get him I'll be importing the Henkei version of Powerglide as I just like the red better. However, if I don't like the mold than I'll be getting the Universe version as I at least want to have an updated Powerglide.

Alternate mode is tight. However I just wished his arms were grey like the original minibot.

I think the only color that could possibly make me consider buying this mold is olive drab, or something close to that. Red does look better than the white version though.

this is nice...but strangely, seeing this figure in FULL red (without the grey arms or something) i feel its a bit too much..n i kinda prefer the hasbro version....im usually a sucker for cartoon accuracy...but then again, this isnt that accurate either

Definitely agree with you there heshan. Out of the box, he's really just a pile of red, as I said in my review. I was almost immediately compelled to weather him the instant I took him out - he just benefits immensely from it and I highly recommend anyone who wants their Red PG to look his best to do the same.

I dig it though I'm still sitting in Storm Cloud to get this mold.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but which method exactly did you use to weather him? It's just that the results look so good that I'm tempted to try my first ever paint modification to a TF, and I'd like to reproduce the specific look you've got here.

Thanks :D ! It's really easy to do, I simply used some thin headed pigment liner pens and literally drew away on the spots I wanted to weather. Leave the ink on for a few seconds, then wipe it off. A Gundam Marker should also work well too.

Are the pegs that hold the wings in bot mode better like the ones on the Powerglide repaint are?

    ....
You could really easly buy both and take off the lower arms on the red verison and replace it with the white to make it look more like the original.. just saying.
