Depends on where this show was, unless it's on the official Takara or Hasbro table, it is very likely that this is a fan version, very well done though

    curious...

I'd lean towards it being a excellently done custom.

but I like being wrong about these things

Gotta wonder about the massive black streaks that converge behind the airbrake though. I give it a 99% chance of being a custom.

Note the regular one in the background of the first pic.

PS--I like how the intakes are done, but why a silver nosecone?

    Ohh, I Wish...

I'd have to agree, as much as I'd love to buy this one in the States, it looks like a patient and talented 'basher did this one.

    Sick, though.

I'd say custom, looks great and things like the airbrushed black and the painted Decepticon symbols make it look professional... then again take a look at the background, whoever did that is a Gundam model builder, and more serious collectors of those could custom paint with ease.

Paint looks way too patchy in places for it to be official to me, seems to be a lot of blue on the elevators, and i doubt it's a Takara stand as there are Gundam boxes stodd behind!

The fact that there are black hinges set against grey wings is a little odd,....

Also, IIRC softer plastic doesn't take metallic paint very well, but for MP Starscream to pass U.S safety standards, the nosecone would have to be made out of softer plastic.

The null rays would also have to be softer plastic to pass U.S. safety standards, meaning the black paint on the tips wouldn't stick too well.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for this to be Hasbro! Doubt it is official though. The carbon streaks are extramly realistic for this jet though. So who knows.

If it is a custom, it's a DAMN good one. If it's official, I'll probably get it.

    Really nice.

I wonder if he has the 'kibble' tail wings attached to the back or if he has just intentionally left them off.

Didn't Hasbro state at one point that they are fighting for a correct release because they were not pleased with the Takara paint scheme?

I agree with all stated here about it being a repaint, but I'm fighting hard to not buy a MP03 knowing that at some point a correct paint release will come. That would be great to see on my shelf, though.

Clearly custom, the lack of Hip kibble is a blatant give away

But isn't buying a MP03 a good way to insure a correct anime version is released? Kinda like if you want it to rain you go wash your car.

    Ebay:
I refuse to import a green Starscream that is supposed to rep G1.
And I don't have the patience or skills for that level of repaint, so Hasbro better get a clue. Takara isn't getting my loot until Skywarp hits.

Somebody should send Hasbro that pic as a reminder. That custom is even better then the Hasbro airbrushed & photoshopped catalog prototypes.

Only thing I remember was, when asked about MP Starscream at BC '06, the response was "IF we released it here, it would have the G1 color scheme" or words to that effect.

The main thing I think when looking at these pics is, while the stripes and red bits/blue tails are out of the ordinary, it doesn't really look that "unrealistic" relative to the original MP-03 colors. I think the smoke streak running down the plane back is really overdone though.

I don't think it's so much overdone, as that it seems so stop too sharply at the airbrake panel. It's just a tad too visually jarring because of that.
