Basically the US army are making robotic exoskeletons. Sorry, only link I have is to video page, no normal news page.

    OMG.

They make the comparison to Iron Man, but the projected suits look more like stuff from Mass Effect.

Now all we have to wait for is Skynet...

Sweet! If they combined this with the bear-proof suit you could have real life powered armor.

It's quite amazing to see human technologies developed to such a high stage.
Maybe one day we can build our own TFs... who knows...

Heh, one of those concept suits look like Mass Effect and the other kind looks like Spartan armor from Halo.

Looks like a pretty cool idea. Be interesting to see what happens when they streamline it and put it to practice.

It actually really reminds of the suits from the animated Starship Troopers (which was ridiculously, painfully good if you haven't seen it).

I love anything that makes my people safer and more lethal. LOVE.

I can only hope these are fielded while I'm still deployable.

    Lol Wayco Scroggin

But you notice how Japan is focusing more on making autonomous robots, and the US is the one building power armor?

Anyway, now that they seem to have ironed out the major kinks in getting the armature to work right and not break a soldier's limbs, the next thing I want to see is a self-contained power source. Whether that's a fuel cell, or a traditional battery, or a small diesel generator, I don't know. If we're going by anime tradition it'd be a microfusion generator, but unfortunately that's still a little ways off. Any Day Now. :D

Hell, this has been in development for a lot longer. I remember reading about Sarcos around four years ago, and that's only when DARPA decided to let the public know about it.
