I placed an order on Amazon on April 20th. The package was supposed to be shipped to a business in San Jose, CA via UPS two day shipping. Following is the UPS tracking progress and seriously...what is going on?

I know what you men, I live maybe 10 miles from one of (if not the) largest UPS hubs in the united states, I can't count the times a package has arrived at the hub within a day or so of being shipped out, only to sit there for DAYS before it is finally put on a truck and delivered to my house.

While it may not seem like it, UPS tends to be a well oiled machine.

I'm going to guess that not a whole lot of stuff gets shipped from phoenix to san jose.

However, Louisville is UPS' main hub, a lot of crap gets moved in and out of there. There were probably lots of packages going other places that would have made more sense for it to go though Louisville.

You would probably see the same thing with Fed Ex, but it would go through Memphis instead of Louisville.

I belong to Amazon Prime where two day shipping doesn't cost anything (in addition to the annual fee).

I guess I could complain but I doubt anything would come of it.

They always ship anything I order from bestbuy.com from Ohio to the USPS in Illinois to me here in Indiana.

UPS also hit my car once, they shipped my MP Volton to Utah the first time and recently left my $1k TV setting on my porch in full view of every one.

Did I miss something. Did they send it from Phoenix AZ eastward than back westward to send to CA? WTF?

I have had issues with them before notably unexplained delays. Although one time at work. We were mailing an intrument cluster from a truck to be fixed. And they totally LOST it. It was a big mess since the odometer for the car had to be the same or it would fuck up the title. And they lost it.

What did you order drippy? Some Philosophy products for the wife?

Not only did they send it eastward to their big shipping hub (I sorta understand them doing this), they then turned around and sent it directly to San Jose (city where I'm having it delivered) and then from there, 45 miles north to Oakland. Say what?

I assume that it will arrive back in San Jose either tonight or first thing in the morning and then delivered.

In my experience, two day shipping usually means two business days.

I would say this is how Bill sends his stuff out, but that would mean he sent his stuff out.

As mentioned earlier, pretty much everything shipped through UPS goes through the Louisville hub. I should know, that's where I work. The amount of packages that come through here every night is astounding. The Louisville hub to my knowledge is the biggest UPS hub in the world.

It is kinda silly to send a package out here from AZ and then back to CA, but that's how the system works. Everything comes here all mixed together and then split by city and flown to the nearest hub to the destination. Then split by zip and put on trucks. For the most part stuff makes it on time, atleast we do the best we can to get it out of here on the first flight.

    Mike

BTW, I don't use UPS ever. They're just too expensive. USPS FTW!!

That is correct. If you send something out 2day on a Thursday afternoon, it isn't late unless it doesn't show on monday.

Any idea why it would go from Louisville, to San Jose, to Oakland, and then back to San Jose?

I need to dig up the map I made of the route UPS took one of my packages on. It's in the shape of a question mark. Seriously. I've posted it in Toyark before.
