Ok, so a couple of months ago I shipped some packages via UPS. I arranged for a Pickup service and paid the driver immediately.

A month later, an invoice requesting payment for their service shows up in the mail. And it's twice the amount they originally quoted. I spent a long phone call explaining that I'd already paid.

A few weeks later, another invoice shows up requesting payment for late charges from the last invoice. Another lengthy explanation and phone call.

Now, several weeks later, I find out that UPS has been sending collection agents to the RECIPIENT of this shipment; claiming that the amount is still owed!

Why did I even deal with these fuckers..... *bangs head*

Did they say you owed on the 1st transaction, or say you never paid in the 1st place?

You could join ups.com and check out the stats on it all

They seem to be treating it as if it were never paid at all. And I have a check stub which proves that it was.

    That's messed up.

Where's the package? , can you get it back and go USPS?

The package was delivered safely months ago. I got invoiced for an insane amount long after it was delivered, attempted to explain the situation to them, and they've now responded by sending collection notices (with MY name on them!) to the buyer of the order.

I hear they don't make left turns, either.

I think you and the recipient will be fine if you guys bring up some lawyers (that you don't actually have). They'll find the amount not worth fighting for and leave you alone.

I absolutely refuse to do any transactions where UPS is involved, for a few years now.

Upwards of $240 counting the "late fees" (which is even more bullshit- late fees on something that's already been paid for?!).

Like I said before, I don't think he actually needs a lawyer, just mentioning one should be enough. Even if he does have to get one, his case is strong enough for them to not bother going (their lawyers will look at it and not want to bother).

Lawyers do not need to get involved with this. You'd end up paying them more than the bill.

Calmly and coolly continue making calls. Document each one. Obtain fax numbers that you can send proof of payment to and extensions that you can dial to confirm receipt afterwards. Reference all previous calls each time.

And send a dispute letter to a credit agency to get the collection marked as "disputed." Send a copy of the check stub along with it.

This from a company that uses a "logical scan" (it was on the last truck so it must be on the next truck) to track packages. As well as "out for delivery" (for 3 days) dosen't mean that it is on a truck headed for the customer. They are however better at tracking than USPS.

UPS just sucks out of control. Seriously, it is a vortex of retardedness from which there is no escape.

They sent me an invoice some time ago. I responded in kind with a printout from my bank detailing that I wrote them a check and confirming that they have cashed the check. And that's just what I sent to the collection agency too.

My biggest problem with UPS is that when I lived at my old apartment, occasionally I'd get an item off of ebay or somewhere else and the seller would send it UPS. I can think of about 3 separate occasions that they simply delivered the package to an address that was totally nowhere near what my address was. It was as if the driver couldn't find my apartment building and said "Screw it, I'll just deliver it here to this one." Luckily I was able to track down my packages and get them. One of them someone had even SIGNED for! :p
