Anyone else buying these new cards that came out Wednesday? I just bought a box on eBay for $72. I was going to hold off and just settle for buying a hand collated set, but after viewing some of the images for the sketch cards (that are 1 per box) I just couldn't resist. I know I should've held off w/ Christmas so close, but things like these only tend to increase in price with time...at least on the secondary market.

So far, here are some of my favorite sketch cards. I'd kill to have either of the 3...

The ones in the 90's looked better too, they were all painted.

It's nice, but I don't get the appeal of collecting these cards anymore, especially in this internet age, where pretty much any image can be easily found and copied.

I liked the first set too that the Hildebrant brothers painted...but there is still some great art in this set as well. Some of the images are the same ones used in ther Versus card game...which sucks, but some of it is totally new. Plus some of the sketch cards are gorgeous.

As for the price, packs I've seen retail for $2.50...but could easily trade over $5 since the demand is high right now.

Woohoo! Got a really nice Bishop sketch card out of my box. Completed one set, missing 4-5 cards from completing a 2nd set. Got most of the Spider-Man & X-Men chase subset cards too. Very pleased, but now I'm tempted to try and track down the rest of the foil parallels (forget about the gold, too expensive!)

That Spider-woman pic is gorgeous... that's the only one of the three I want, though.

To think of all the money I spent on cards like this in the 90's..... sigh.....

I kept them all though, I figure I'll let me kids go through them.

They do make a nice reference to basic abilities and such, even if its been 13 years.

My favorite sets were Marvel Series IV (which I got the venom vs spiderman hologram card out of a pack once), and Marvel Masterpieces Series II. I tried to get into the MM Series III, but I can't stand the hildbrandts artwork.

EDIT: I forgot to add the Spider-man set that was done mostly by Mark Bagley, great artwork throughout.

Didn't Joe Jusko paint the first set of Marvel Masterpieces way way back when?
