From tvshowsondvd.com, SonyWonder's going under, and they were the ones that were going to release the series on DVD this year...

Good, then maybe Rhino can get the license to Energon and Cybertron.

Well, I'm glad I already have the Rhino versions. Although, I was likely to pick these up if they had decent extras.

That sucks. They did a great job on the TFTM DVD.

On the other hand, I'm positive SOMEBODY is going to re-release these things. I doubt Hasbro is going to allow the coming surge of Transformers nostalgia to pass this year without getting G1 cartoon DVDs back in print somehow.

The really unfortunate part of this is that their excellent TFTM DVD will go out of print as a result. I've got it, and I'm sure most of you do too, but it's a shame that a lot of people whose interest in the franchise is rekindled because of the new movie won't be able to get it.

    Bugger.
I was hoping for a 'definitive' release free of all the tweaks inflicted on the Rhino release, but after hearing this I'm glad I picked them up.
Although I too think someone will jump on the opportunity the film offers and get them on the shelves; it's too good an oppurtunity to miss - I just hope they aren't direct re-issues of what we already have.

Man, that kinda sucks. I thought they did a great job on the 20th Anniversary TFTM DVD.

Well, I hope the series gets re-released later on this year by someone else.

Ah well. Well keep watching the Rhino's which aren't as bad as people make them to be. Plus those silver cases look good on the dvd shelf

They need to find a way to get the GI Joe ones back out too, even the DiC episodes. I missed those the first time around.

They're great sets. No DiC Eps have ever been put to DVD yet though. Only Sunbow.

Paramount has the rights to Energon and Cybertron DVD releases. And that has nothing to do with this topic since its about the original series DVDs being released through Sony.
