Well, you could just look at the picture, his chest is blatantly plastic.

Shame about the lack of chrome and stuff, otherwise I'd pick this up in a heartbeat to replace the die-cast idiocy they saddled him with.

Looking at the pics, I'm not seeing much to make it obvious either way.

One possibility to resolve both statements is maybe there's still metal parts in the toy, but not as many as the first release. Purely a guess though.

Aside from the fact the box says they are diecast (and of course the box may be incorrect), the toys on display have paint chips on their (alledgedly former) die-cast parts.

Like these two have paint chips on their chest windows.

Also, the painted parts are of a different gloss (but closer to the plastic gloss than the shiny original release paint, no doubt to make it closer to the Classics Prime and cartoon appearance).

Its possible Hasbro could have painted those (now) plastic parts...

While I'm not uber excited about him, I'm excited that I might have a chance to get one. I only saw 20th Prime once at a Walmart, but I was hoping to wait and see if the price went down. Don't think I'll do that this time.

I hope he is all plastic, as I really despise paint chipping. I also really like the deco, except for the yellow on the head (but I can get used to it).

I'd say it's nice to see him again, but I wonder if re-releasing him is a good idea...

that one in the display case is die-cast. as mentioned, there's paint chips on it, not to mention there's visible unpainted die-cast in truck mode holding his front bumper to his grill.

the paint used just isnt as glossy as the original, thats all.

I wouldn't mind having a plastic version. It would make him more fun to play with. The price tag though isn't so hot.

    Oh really? What's the other?
And it seems TFormers was convinced it was all plastic yesterday as well.

I'm pretty sure even Tformers said it 'appeared' to be all plastic. That doesn't mean TFW2005 should shift some of the blame to them without double checking.

    My apologies then.

I was just concerned that two major TF sites were unwittingly spreading disinformation (if the release IS die-cast)... especially considering how much Nerd Fury was unleashed with this news.

    Just found out what happened.

The 20th Prime on display at the Hasbro booth IS plastic, but the version released to stores will be diecast.

boy is my face red :(

I have a theory that they made the display Primes plastic because he's less likely to topple over in the display case.

YES! Another eighty bucks saved. I will not buy this piece of garbage in die-cast again. Having one 20th Prime that can't stand up is sufficient to use as target practice for my Starscream army.
