I was just about to post this and saw your post, so I'll just add to it and FP yours.

Here are a couple of auctions for unreleased G2 Go-Bots. Each are sealed onto a G2 High Beam card.

Although not released in G2, these molds (not decos) eventually saw release in the Robots in Disguise line. These are probably the best pictures that have ever surfaced of these rare items.

That's the first time I see painted versions of G2 Rumble and the "Racer" mold in such high quaility. Never would have guessed that Rumble was supposed to be a Pizza delivery car.

Sweet. It's always cool to see previously unknown samples of toys surface. I've seen the pics on the G2 Archive before, but these are much better.

Huh. I never realized that the Pizza Delivery car/RiD Sideswipe was supposed to be Rumble. The TF Wiki even says one had "Rumble" written on the side. Have we seen this one before?

OK I will take more pictures tomorrow in natural daylight and add them to the listings. Here in the UK it is now 10.30 at night. I think I am going to have some sleepless nights as I had many of these and gave them away to children that I know. I can not believe how many people want these at the prices that they are willing to pay. take care.

DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN. Stuff like this makes me ill. I'm thrilled to death that they went to kids, but WOWSERS, he could have had a lot of money.

If the seller had so many and on card they must have been very close to full production. Really amazing, so these things later became the r.i.d. spy changers?

That's g2 for you. where bright neon colors clash in loopy ways. Even to the point that some tfs change colors in hot or cold water. These don't but my point is this is an era of gimmicky fun transformers and by being wild or strange is trying to get this small toy to catch the eyes of children.

There were three waves of the G2 Go-Bots, all of which included the same six molds as various recolors. A fourth wave would have introduced six new molds, which never came out during G2 (a fourth production run of the original six molds ended up as the three Japanese G2 Go-Bots, with the parts for the remaining three toys ending up god-knows-who, except for the parts that ended up as BotCon 1995 Nightracer).

The original six molds became repainted as the first wave of the RiD Spychangers, now selling as two-packs. The second wave featured two more two-packs, each of which included repaints of two of the previously unreleased G2 Go-Bots molds. The remaining two molds were apparently lost, or rather, the required parts were damaged beyond repair, as each set of six toys was gang-molded.

The original G2 Go-Bots/RiD Spychangers were repainted multiple times as store exclusives and whatnot, whereas the four "new" ones were only repainted once, as four of the six "G1" deco Spychangers (later re-released in Universe packaging).

Here's a list of mold reuses:

Those went right next to my Botcon Piranhacons folder. Neat stuff. It'd be cool to see those never-released schemes on future toys. There's something in particular I like about the police car, and Recon Barricade would be an easy base to replicate that.
