I'm kind of sad people aren't digging Siege. It has a ton of stuff I was hoping for and more. Like the hype train just keeps building. I'm all about Lamppost Soundwave finally being a thing lol. Is that unpopular though? I mean I don't see many people excited but that could just be that so many people want stuff in hand before they give opinions. If I was smart I'd probably do the same because this could all be pure garbage in hand.

 

I love the Siege Decepticons. I'll probably get Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and the cassette pack, and Flywheels, Brunt, and Reflector are interesting as well.

I do want Optimus Prime, Ratchet, and Ironhide, but I'm happy tracking down the older Classics/Universe cars for other characters.

 

The simple answer is that it should have been two legends figures.

 

The vast majority of Soundwave toys could Transform into a lamp post just as convinvingly as this one, but the Lamp post mode has always been silly and cheap and just Soundwave with his head tucked away. This toy's other alt mode is terrible.

 

Alternate faces are a better accessory than weapons.

 

Yeah sure but that figure scale isn't present in Siege

 

Shockwave’s Super Robot mode is his best mode and that’s how I’m displaying him. Massive shoulders and feet are my aesthetic, man.

 

Except MP Soundwave already did the lamppost thing. This Soundwave takes that and the bot mode aesthetic straight from the MP toy but totally sacrifices the alt mode for a solid block with 2 thrusters.

The way I feel about G1 at this point is that almost everything has been done before and/or better, by the MP line or 3P companies. Take the tetrajets for example- not novel-3P has done it. Soundwave, Sideswipe, Ultra Magnus, and Optimus take MANY design cues straight from their MP counterparts.

I'm sure the line will sell like hotcakes.. but I certainly will be staying away for the most part. May pick up Cog. Omega Supreme though.... I'm eagerly awaiting the full reveal.

Lol, the figures look "good" for what they are (G1 bots with Cybertronian alt-modes), G1 fans can't be happy with anything!

 

I hate the idea of rotor blades becoming swords. Swords have to have an edge to function as blades, and rotor blades need to be wing shaped to create lift. It's an inherently self-contradictory idea.

 

G1 fans are only happy with g1.
If every line came out exactly like g1 (no upgrades, no extras, just the same thing) they'd complain because it's the same stuff over and over then the transformers line would die because it was to boring with the same thing over and over.

 

Oh heavens forbid the designers try something NEW with a character. IMO having Battletrap be composed of two smaller robots makes him much more cool than just being two vehicles. It was a serious missed opportunity not to have Flywheels be the same way, they even could have used the same joint setup so you could mix-n-match! A version of PowerLinx that was actually, you know, good.

Regarding the new Seige reveals, they all look like complete trash, like someone dumped their G1 characters in a bath for too long and they pruned up. And those vehicle modes are atrocious. Especially Soundwave, Starscream, Ultra Magnus and Hound. Megatron’s just looks lazy.

 

Warden confirmed you can mix and match Battletrap and Flywheels.

 

It’s still not the same without Flywheels’ components having their own robot modes like Battletrap.  

 

I understand, but it could have been worse! I'm just happy they're making him at all.

 

All Transformers alt-modes should be marketed as submarines from now on.
