It really boils down to Hasbro not putting in the effort to do the group justice so everyone is waiting to see what Takara does.
Of course there have been people who caved or people who didn't know the characters but thought the boxset looked cool who did buy it.

The US release Chromedome head is absolutely terrible. Having gone for toy accuracy across the line, we get IDW. I'd honestly rather have the Takara head, but can't justify the import fees and now aftermarket fees. That said, I physically checked EVERY Chromedome in a 60 mile radius of my house hoping my local stores got some of those mispackaged Takara headed US Chromedomes. A part of me still hopes that Hasbro brings the Takara heads over somehow.

 

I like the POTP Starscream mold. The stickers are awful, but I like the mold.

 

Hasbro should have gone for Rebirth heads across the line.
Their suppose toy accuracy is all over the place. So there really is no excuse.

 

Most of the time the new faceplates for legends look awful. Their extreme levels of cartoon/anime accuracy just looks incongruous on the modernized, greebely bodies of the titans return figures.

While I have and like Titans Return Chromedome I wish he had a more G1 accurate head, I personally did not see the justification in price of getting the Legends version just for the Headmasters anime head.

Honestly their attempts at making figures more appealing to IDW fans has kind of ruined the figure IMO. The only ones that comes to my head as actually good is Swerve & Skids in the Thrilling 30 line & Ultra Magnus from Combiner Wars, I absolutely like the figure but even still I'd love to see them do a new Magnus in POTP going complete G1 with the inner white Prime (I also like Fun Pub's take on Chromedome from Prime Wheeljack even if its to IDW for my taste). Tailgate is an absolutely terrible figure and after handling POTP Windcharger for a few days now I can be confident in saying that now that Hasbro is going full G1 toy for Tailgate's POTP toy he will be THE Tailgate in my collection. And while I like Thrilling 30 Hoist I find Combiner Wars Trailbreaker to be a more superior take on Trailbreaker then Thrilling 30 Trailcutter, absolutely love the more G1 cartoon accurate head but even then I'd love to see Hasbro do a third attempt at Trailbreaker & a second attempt at Hoist, a bit bigger and a bit more G1 accurate.

 

Or take any modern 1:72 scale military figures.

The best ones come with sculpted details like buttons, wrinkles and detailed faces... Or full details on their chainmail shirts.

And those are usually budget products for around 20 bucks per box. Molded in cheap soft plastic. Less than one inch tall.

I much prefer the IDW-styled stuff, TBH, and I wish they'd go further with it more often. I love Milne's designs for characters like Megatron, Rodimus, and Brainstorm.

 

Voyagers Seekers are overrated. Hell, the entire size class is. Not every toy has to be Voyager class to be "prefect".

 

Having a extremely rare piece don't make your collection special.


Even if you bought that toy for 8.000$.
