Anything other than a C&D or other legal threat, could be talked about. Like, "Hey, good news, we found a publisher!". Not being able to talk about it = some legal BS. Or they're trying to be like Maketoys and create unnecessary drama lol. Doubt it.

...in fact, a straight-up C+D carries no authority to quash disclosure, so i suspect a stick/carrot combination of the two, and just hope that ocular echo’s small-party status isn’t taken advantage of so they’re at liberty to bring their project to fruition with its integrity intact...

 

Brrricey, do your self a favor and get an agent or some type of contract negotiator to work out your deal with Hasbro, and or Takara for the book deal. You’ve done 100% of the work. Well you and your partner. So a deal where you get royalties for every copy being sold is a must. However, I’m going to leave those kind of specifics to the professionals who will make sure you don’t get ripped off, and you get the deal you deserve for all of your hard work.

 

I've seen so many price guides and 'unofficial' guides books for other properties that aren't licensed, that them getting a C&D just seems really odd to me.

...remember, trademark dilution is not held at stay by strict claims, but by aggressive action to maintain trademark regardless of legal virtue, and unfortunately it costs money to defend oneself even when clearly in the right...

We haven't said if you will or will not be getting the books. Only that we stopped the kickstarter. We will keep you guys in the loop as to what happens, but we're not giving up yet

They said they are doing this because they have no choice, as in their hand is being forced. They shouldn't give a negative impression like that if this is the result of something positive like a better publishing deal.

 

No I get that, I was just saying we're all assuming because we really don't have an official word why. None the less, it's the most likely explanation.

 

I hate to say this, dude, but 3P sales are a drop in the bucket compared to mainline sales. And I say this as a major 3P fan.
Sure, we spend a lot of our money individually, but we are so insignificant in the larger collecting scene.

 

I'm super bummed and I hope things work out for you guys, I will definitely support you in any future endeavors.

 

I guess the difference could be that the crushing success of the movies (like 'em or not; I don't) has made Hasbro more wary of certain branches of possible copyright infringement. I dunno; the whole thing seems weird.
