That's pretty infeasible. They don't get any money until the campaign ends. Also, no one that's pledged so far is obligated to pay until then, so (as has happened in the past to other campaigns), some people might bail towards the end, lowering the total.

Are the non-MSRP prices and arbitrary "rarity" listings which reduce it from a timeless photographic archive to a dated price guide with pretty pictures still included?

I'm not saying that I will consider it RUIND 4EVER if they are, but it's keeping me from pulling the trigger early.

Have yours shipped to me and I'll stick a black label over the offending small 8pt text on each page and send it back to you. So you don't have to worry about it, and won't get enraged in 2037 by reading it :D

LOL. I don't think you understand economies of scale and how that affects the price of a niche, specialty product.

I know a number of fans like the prices show on these pages, but I have to say (as a person who has pledged to buy both) that would have really preferred to not have the prices.

Each to their own and all (I’m not really fussed about the price guide myself), but this book - for me, at least - is a picture book first and foremost, and in that respect it looks to be a simply astonishingly good piece of work.

You’re really going to let a small amount of text detract from an otherwise essential tome? Wow!

Also (and please correct me if I’m barking up the wrong tree here), but could the price guide just be there as a loophole sort of thing, to prevent any legal stuff from Hasbro? I dunno, like, this gets the book reclassified from ‘photo book’ to a ‘work of journalism’ in which case the images, trademarked names etc. become fair use? (Please ignore me if I’m chatting rubbish - I usually am).

i actually don't care either way and it's baffling why some people are so strongly against it (or for it) - i've had the Mark Bellomo book for 10 years and don't think i've even read the price text on anything in it. or even the foreward.

Just really cool having complete photographic references of my favourate toyline ever :)

Wasn't going to get it since I own all these figures but two and I will probably never open these books, but what the hell. Looks like $149 to go.

...i think the rarity ratings are nice, and i’d have preferred legacy MSRP over current market prices, but honestly i’m at all bothered by the additional information: it’s a trivially-ignored snapshot of the publication date which will one day offer a historic significance of its own...

Ah but you must check to ensure you've got all the right bits n pieces and compare against the photos! Or what if you want to see your collection while in work or in a different room, and not have to move to do so?! :p

Do it, go on do it now! Back it!

I did when I made my post :)  . Pledged for both books. Doing it more to just help the project.

I would pay $5 more per volume to have the rarity and price details emailed rather than printed on the page.

It looks to be an astonishingly good piece of work except for that "small amount of text" that dates it. MSRP and actual production numbers? Unnecessary but at least objective. Arbitrary rarity and value? Highly subjective.

And yes, the tomes are otherwise essential in regards to being a photographic record. So why spoil that by adding the non-essential and non-photographic?

    24$ left to go.
I don't have any visuals prepped if we reach 100% today.
I'll have to put something together after work.

Thanks to you who are rooting for us. It means a lot. :)  <3

As far as the price and rarity ratings go. It is what it is, some people don't like it, some people do.
The fact of the matter is however, there is no turning back on this now. It's all over our promotional visuals of the past 4 months, and has been promised to people.

I honestly and genuinely see where people are coming from as far as this information dating the books.
And if I allow myself to be completely authentic here, I agree with you, I would rather not have them in there.
Too late though, live and learn... For the record, I'd personally still buy these books if I was on the outside.
    Just saying.
