Just curious, which pages will the names go on or will it be one long paragraph like the thank you credits at the end of a movie? How will you confirm names or do you care. Meaning will you take Nighthawkblack as my name or will you require my real name, Knightious Blackhawk? I'd like to pledge one for my Son and one for me and get a set of books as well. Hope it gets made, it's a great project.
i read it and still not comfortable with it. i hate signing up for unnecessary websites. it took for 4 years of lurking here before actually making an account.
You also don't have to sign up, use guest feature. ... so..re apply previous critizism.
Not sure how else you want them to accomplish this.
So if I want a copy of the 1st book AND want my name in it... do I pledge twice? One for the book, and a second time as a $5 tier supporter?
As a Kickstarter super user, if you want this book, then the website is necessary and ceases to be unnecessary.
My only issue with these books is the written "values" for each figure. Given how often the market changes for each figure and varying condition figures can be found in, I feel it isn't sensible to include these prices. I've seen way to many sellers at flea markets and toy shows pull out a price guide and quote the highest price for a figure that isn't worth 1/8 of the listed "value" in the book simply because they saw it written that it was worth that much. The "Rarity Meter" can be pretty subjective too.
With that said, I think these books are great and can't wait to add them to my collection.
I totally agree. If they want to put some price on the page, I would be much more interested in the original price of to toy (so, that might be difficult to come by for every figure).
Me too, but I'm still pledged also.
Ususally with these sorts of things, once the project is funded they'll send you an email asking how you wish to be credited.
What's the difference between this and a simple google image search for high quality g1 pics ?
I really wish to pledge and support as I really want these books, but it saddens me to know my country isn't in the shipping list...
We're pretty fortunate Hasbro probably won't shut this down...
...certain other companies would do well to adopt similar philosophies. One in particular whose name can be translated as "Leave it up to Heaven".
Hardcopy. All in one place. Variants. Uniform super high quality. Easier to take to the John than a computer with comparable size screen.
Ummmm... because it's cool as shit
I own every G1 figure and can just go look at my shelf, but I still want to have this out on the table in my collection room next to the original MP Optimus and Megatron in alt mode.
So you're paranoid of the internet? Ok... next.
I have no idea what you're talking about
Sadly this is where I'm at too. It's the same budget as a MP Seeker. And those Seekers are damn expensive.
It's a catch22 situation.
If it had been made with cheaper materials to get the cost down I wouldn't have bought because it looked cheap.
It does look really nice. Hope this does reach the target, because I want them to exist in the world.
Still time remaining for me to order one evening when I'm rather drunk.
Does it really have to cost US$68 to ship overseas? Ouch! It's giving me second thoughts.
I don't see an option for overseas people like me who just interested in Volume 1. Or am I overlooking?
Well, New Zealand isn't on the list either but just looking at the shipping cost to Australia... Yeah, no. Sorry guys, I want to get both books and support your project, but for US$110 plus almost $80 more for shipping alone, you can keep your damned books. That's about US$200, so close to NZ$300, and... haha, no. Never happening. Even if I could afford it, I would never pay that for these. Sorry, but I just don't think they're worth anywhere near that much, even considering that almost half of that is shipping costs.
When you said you were looking into finding a cheaper international shipping option before launching the Kickstarter, I assumed it'd be available worldwide for a not-so-insane price, but... I guess not.
Oh well, money saved. It's a shame but that price is waaaay too steep.
Unfortunately, we had this discussion already, and apparently the suggestion from a few people to put current values into the book got stuck in their heads. It makes zero sense if you ask me. A real shame that they went with that choice.
I really think their fulfillment partner doesn't give a damn about non-US customers. I know there are much cheaper options for KS (such as making a deal with UPS to ship everything in bulk from the US to a regional center in Europe and then pass it on to the local post office), but flat-rate priority is the simplest (and laziest) option which is why it's so expensive.
Separate names with a comma.
