This is my current WIP following inspiration from RodimusVTS' version which can be seen here.

the head has gone through quite a few concepts until the final one seen in the painted pictures below.

Originally I wanted to have glowing ears so I moded the side horns from cybertron downshift to attach to the sunstreaker head with a mouthplate made from modeling putty. I promptly lost one of said modded horns and so looked at the alternatives, the head that came with the body is now back as it was sans horns awaiting being placed onto sideswipe when he comes out and have used the cybertron downshift head (with sunstreaker ears) with it's neck widened to accomodate the balljoint inside the head.

his legs simply look better to me transformed like that are are more stable without the feetdeployed in this alternative tf.

he is fully transformable but his head catches unless it is rotated along with the legs for transformation as shown in the last pic.

curiously enough without the red and green coming towards him he looks like Downshift.

    [edit: fixed some spelling]

Looks really good, I had thought that because of the hood chest he qwould make a good classics wheeljack, also really like the head its like a more modern look ya know.

if you don't want to use a spray, I'd highly recommend you wet-sand the figured in-between each coat of paint you apply as with it being white, it shows your brush strokes really well.

that'll be taken care of tomorow when i paint some of it black and som of it white.

i had considered trying a spray, never have done before but it is tempting now to get a new sunstreaker and give it a try. i'll probably attempt it soon anyway as i just am not satisfied with my brushwork.

The problem is the paint IMO it really sucks and it is not just this colour, it needs the sanding to start to look good. such a shame my local town does not have any better quality paint.

Nice start. Back when I first came up with this idea, I realized that it would, most likely, be difficult to paint white onto yellow (both seem to cause trouble in kitbashes). If we don't get a Universe Wheeljack from Hasbro, and I decide to do this kitbash, I'll more than likely primer him, and then paint him white. That way is should take less coats to cover. As for the head, some remolding to the Sunstreaker head will be enough for me. I'd probably then put my current Wheeljack in with what I call my "Other" display. Keep up the good work.

I'm thinking he meant to say roof chest.

True, BUT he certainly called it "Classics Wheeljack", didn't he? "Classics" toys were designed to be like G1, just a bit more updated. All in all, it's a WIP. ;)

I think it looks great so far--It looks pretty cool with Energon Downshift and Sunstreaker.

well, went to town earlier and got another sunstreaker, some spray paint and some sandpaper. I've decidedthat I'll try both methods for this and the one i like the finish on most will become Wheeljack and the other Red Alert, masked everything off, just waiting for the rain to stop now so I can get on with the project.

Good start for classics Wheeljack. Suprised there hasnt been more. Hope someone attempts a body kit for the alt mode to make it a little more like the Lancia.

well the parts for the new body are now sprayed, never have done before and it came out beautifully apart from one door where the paint ran down from when the other side was painted, but it's sanded and repainted.

Pics of it reassembled and waiting for detailing and touch ups tomorow
