Hello everybody, I want to say that I am humbled by the Radicons and the numerous talents everyone has here. I have been a member here for a while and where I have had a couple ideas I have never carried them out. I have always been torn between keeping my TFs new or to mod them. Then one day I saw the light bar mod for Barricade from the movie. It was just too cool and simple to not do. I have done other little things like real chains on animated figures and the flame mace mod to Swoops weapon.

Well the other day I picked up Universe Warpath and a couple of other bots. However Warpath has really stuck with me. Always seemed like a ground version of Powerglide in a way. The new figure I think really does his character justice and I must have transformed him a 100+ times already. However I couldn't help but feel like he is rather plain. So for the first time I sat down and painted. It is the first time I have ever painted anything this small or weathered it. I am used to my aircraft which are much larger. I think the end result is still awesome and looks much better than the bright red plastic. Now I look at my shelves and think of who is next.

    Thanks for looking guys,

    WJWS

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have been painting for about 20 years now but like I said before, nothing this small. I am used to and airbrush and a much larger canvas. On the other hand, this is my first attempt at weathering. I have done panel lines and such on some of my RC aircraft but nothing like this. It was a lot of fun and quite nice to have just a day project unlike some of my others that take years to complete. I used a mixture of acrylic and oil based paints to get the look I wanted. I used Applebarrel (Brand) Black from walmart. Model masters acrylic blue and silver. A silver paint pen and enamel brown for that wet muddy look. I think I am going to have to get me a few more of him. Just to try out some battle damage and get rid of the #2 on top. I too was debating on cutting off the bottom portion of the turret to get it to rotate around. I am kinda glad I didn't as I like the look of the yellow light all framed in. I may try something else though with another one on down the line.

    Thanks again,

    WJWS

I think you've done an awesome job on this, man. The paintjob looks great, along with the colors you used. I've used those Wal-Mart paints on various projects over the years and most recently, on a few kitbash projects--they definitely add some nice color and have a nice texture to them (I've noticed that their blacks and grays seem to have this flat, almost grainy texture to them that works great and looks great on customs--I recently picked up some shades of purple for that grainy and flat look for some shading on a Shockwave custom in the works).

Again, great job on this--especially for such a small piece to work with.

I've bought some of that folk art/apple barrel paint too. Walmart and Michael's tend to have a greater selection of those than Testors or any other hobby paint for that matter. They're also cheaper and you get more paint. I've bought gray and white for priming and color mixing purposes and they've worked well thus far. I also forgot that this was a legends figure. Would've been a lot cooler as a deluxe. Hell, the pictures you took make the mold look a lot bigger.

I got tired of spending $4 on a .5 oz bottle of model masters paint. A friend turned me on to these and at $2 for a huge bottle I now have a life time supply. I usually mix 50/50 with windex for a smooth flow through my airbrush but for this little guy I went straight out of the bottle. If you want a little gloss, hit it with some minwax polycril and it will be sealed in and shiny.

Oh, it's an acrylic-based floor polish used to seal custom paint jobs.

Sorry I haven't used it so I would know. Minwax has been my go to stuff. I can get it in matte or gloss and it is great when working with fiberglass.
