Man, for the first time ever, I'm starting to wish I had the Botcon Dreadwind.  I never thought I'd say that. And to think I could have had him for $50 or so a year ago on eBay! I'm sure his price will skyrocket now.

I picked up Darkwing...err, "Darkwind" last night, and absolutely love him. I think this is a perfect example of a repaint/homage done exactly right (the complete opposite of Henkei exclusive "Strafe"). This mold works great as Silverbolt...but even better as Darkwing. If only they slightly retooled the head to have a visor, this would have been the best repaint in years. As it stands, he adds some character to my Classics/Henkei Decepticons shelf, and I can't put him down. His simplistic transformation is actually quite nostalgic. He (like Silverbolt) feels like a highly articulated G1 toy. I have no problems with that.

Picked him up today. Rather a cool figure, I never got Silverbolt so it's a new mold to me. The Homage factor is great, and now Dready has his friend.

Hopefully this guy doesn't sell out on TRU.ca, since my "local" TRU is two cities, three towns and a fuckton of country land away from here, also it sucks at having new stuff in.

I was gonna hold out till this guy. But I bought Silverstreak 2 weeks ago instead. I am happy i did. This guy is very awesome, dont get me wrong. Very G1-esque. But for the times, i just don't like him. But I'll probably buy him in a couple weeks and change my mind.

I feel for you canadian fans. I don't know how you guys do it.

We have retailers everywhere, there's a Zellers in my town, they just never have anything new. That's why I hate TRU exclusives. Not only do our stores not get anything on time on a regular basis, but now it's not even sold at my store at all.

I'm sure you can add some Reprolabels to his wings if it bothers you that much.

He really is superior to Silverbolt as far as homages go... I have to wonder if the design was intended to work so well as a Darkwind repaint or not. But the paints apps are amazingly close to the original, and he just LOOKS like his box art. I've compared, and the number of details that match up make me think it was all intentional.

He's certainly a nice addition to beef out my Classics Decepticon forces.

As far as the paint ops go, it was all VERY intentional. The deco artist had the original G1 toy and the box art to use as reference. One of the coolest details to find and put in were the details on "Silverbolts" pelvis would match the stickers on G1 Darkwing when painted correctly. Also, the original deco sheet had the raised brow area on the head painted purple to try and make it look like he still had the visor, just wasn't using it right now. But apparently they ran out of paint ops for that.

Don't know how much Darkwing factored in when making the "Silverbolt" mold, but yeah, there were some nice details that matched up.

I know that! However, I'd rather have the logo painted like the rest.

I got this one over the weekend and I really like it. I would love to see someone like FansProjects or another highend after market company make a new and head and round shoulder to help differentiate him from Silverbolt more other than that I really like this figure. So if possible I recomend picking up this figure.

I got this guy today. He's very cool. The colours really do it for me, though. I liek how his arms are painted and his head. Solid in both modes but he's always carrying his other mode.I'm glad I got him and highly recommend him over Silverbolt. His head makes a better Darkwing than Silverbolt's, too, surprisingly.

Cool. I always like Silverbolt as a character, but Darkwing also. I don't have either, and I'd rather get 1 character from this mold, so looks like Darkwing is it.

Now if only Dreadwind weren't so expensive.
