    I'm glad they made him an Ultra, I love how tall he is. While I appreciate complicated transformers I can't say the simplicity of Silverbolt bothers me in the slightest. He looks and feels to me like a super-articulated G1 toy, which is what I've always wanted.

    *sigh* Another complaint against the transformation. You'd think people will just let it go already. He's a great toy with lots of personality.(No offense to you, just that we hear this all the time.)

    -Perfect G1 update
    -Good Alt mode
    -Good articulation
    -Crappy Transformation

    I think he's terrific, but Silverbolt is an excellent illustration of how difficult it is to satisfy a diverse fanbase. What a challenge it must be for the design team to to take an established character, bring it 25 years into the future, and still stay "faithful" to the original incarnation.

    For example, in Powerglide's case, the only similarities to the original are alt mode and head sculpt. More new than old characterisitcs, really.

    In Silverbolt's case, they retained MUCH more of the original toy and basically added electronics and articulation. It would appear they stayed "truer" to the original than some people would have liked.

    QFT. well said & i couldn't agree more with ya.

    In fact sometime with complicated transformation it kills of the enjoyment of the toy. with something like this (Silverbolt) i wouldn't mind transforming it back & forth anytime.

    But it isn't 'crappy'...

    The transformation works very well. Sure, it isn't complicated, but when did 'simple' fail to equate to 'proper'?

    Movie Leader Megatron had a 'crappy' transformation. Not only was the leg movement unintuitive and ackward, but it would often leave stressmarks along the thin cod-piece portion of the bot mode if you weren't very careful.

    I think Transformations should be somewhat simple and quick. What kid wants to interrupt play to sit and do a puzzle before he starts a battle scene? If the kid wanted that, he should start playing Resident Evil games.

    I'll admit, I was originally in the "too simple transformation=bad" camp, but I have Silverbolt and think he is awesome. The simple transformation is part of his appeal, in my opinion. It's very G1, which is the point of the Classics series: to emulate G1. This is just another way of doing so.

    I do think he's major basic for such a large figure. I do hate electronics in all tfs for bringing them down in all other non-'flashy/soundy' departments.

    I played with him at Toronto when Hasbro had him on display there, loved him. A great update of the original. I've been meaning to buy the new one for a little while.

    I'm not disappoint in that "simple" transformation, but rather that most of the jet parts remain on his back with little transformation. He's almost like a shell former. But that's just minor to me. All in all he's a pretty cool figure. I'm glad he is ultra size since he is the leader of a gestalt, just like Onslaught.

    Damnit, I was going to say that!

    As with Galvatron, if anyone doesn't like their Silverbolt, they're welcome to send him to me.

    Crappy probably wasn't the best word to use. Simplistic is much better. I'm not going so far as to say 'proper' since with today's engineering they could have come up with something a little better for the size, but that would be me splitting hairs. Silverbolt is awesome, end of [MY] story.

    silverbolt as easy as he is, it is still a fantastic toy!

    i just wish he had something to cover up the back of his legs lol.

    or that the back kibble did something, like the wings fold up or something.

    other then that, i love it!

    There's a lot of criteria out there, and everyone has different priorities for what is important or not.

    * Robot mode looks
    * Vehicle mode looks
    * Homage to past toys/characters
    * Articulation
    * Gimmicks
    * Transformation complexity and/or design
    * and more!

    Silverbolt's a good example of how those different peoples' priorities come to the forefront

    I have Silverbolt standing right next to me on my desk, and all I can say is WIN. I've been thinking about the simplistic transformation since I got him, but it really doesn't affect my opinion of him at all. In fact, he was one of my most anticipated Universe figures (in a list that include Acid Storm, Hot Shot, Hound/Ravage, Cyclonus and especially Inferno).
