    from what I have seen in the test shots, the gun is gray/silver.

    The destruction of his home city probably was left off to avoid issues with parents and grandparents that dislike 'war toys'. I know he has a pistol and two shoulder-mounted missile launchers, but grammas can always be told those are just freeze-rays or something. That's how I got around hippy relatives when I was a kid.
