That's the way these things go. Each new iteration of the "Classics" lineup, especially after the movie hype cycle kicks up long dormant "fans", new interest is sparked in childhood favourites. Classics prices skyrocketed when Universe kicked in. Now Universe with Generations, etc.

I'm even more surprised that Universe Ironhide and Sideswipe are worth the same amount. Sideswipe I can understand, because the alternative is a nigh-identical Henkei version that lacks the turbochargers, but Ironhide pales significantly compared to his Henkei release.

I was also surprised by how quickly these figures increased in price. However, I wouldn't exactly say they were shelf warmers. Compared to the duration figures from other lines are generally on the shelf these weren't there all that long.

I think it may have more to do with the fact that these are the current definitive versions of the original 1980s lineup.

Fo' sho'. Galvatron and Cheetor were the real shelf-warmers for me. Ironhide and Sideswipe never had trouble moving from everything I saw. That said, yeah, folks who jumped on with RTS/Generations are looking to go through the back catalog and fill out their shelves.

I sold a loose Uni Ironhide last month for $30, so yeah. Of course... I sold it with the notion of replacing it with a Henkei Ironhide... now *that* is gonna be a swift crack in the jaw.

Next time, make your point with completed auctions. Asking price doesn't mean shit. I see at least three recent completed auctions of the same thing going unsold at five bucks.

Ironhide was a main character, 30 is kinda cheap really IMO. Same with Ratchet but he was underproduced in both lines and the Henkei version is really expensive.

I live in the US and i had to pick up universe ironhide off of amazon uk because even with the expensive international shipping rates, it was the best price I could find at the time.

WTF? He's not Windcharger you know. Normally us Brits get cheaper deals ordering from the States.

Cheetor I can understand but why Dinobot?

Sure his colors weren't accurate but he's a damn good figure IMO.

New collectors looking for older items can drive up the price. Especially core characters.

    1. Universe Ironhide and Sideswipe are both out of stores and out of production. Meaning value goes up.

    2. They are "Classics" figures. Value goes up.

    3. When did Ironhide and Sideswipe ever shelfwarm? Only Uni-'08 shelfwarmers I ever saw were Cheetor and Dinobot.
