Nice, I just subscribed & your other vids I like(especially the Scott Mcneil one, still need a 10th aniv Waspinator)Will you also be continuing your normal plastic addict reviews?
Yup. Plan right now is to do an episode of Plastic Addict every other Saturday (starting with this saturday with any luck) to coincide with the episodes of the WTF@TFW podcast that I'm on. Every Wednesday I'll post a new Rushed Review focusing on a current toy.
haha nice. everything so true about that figure, thankfully both my legs lock up right. i just wish he had a BFG. and that siren blip is a joke.
So there's you and Peaugh for short video reviews now, and I've adopted a shorter style too. IT'S THE NEW IT THING BABY Really, I hope you get a lot of recognition for this. No disrespect to those pushing the Youtube time limits, I used to myself and a lot of the guys (many not very well known here) going 10 minutes can be very entertaining, but clearly you don't always need to make a short film about one figure to get the point across eh? I'm seeing more and more that both ways can work, relieving knowing that I don't have to cram as much into a video as possible for it to be accepted. I don't feel the need to show off all the hundreds of facts I know and go into long how-to transformation sections and all that anymore, and the prospect of reviewing toys feels less like some huge job accordingly!
Really that's the goal here, to show that length is not what's important. The satire to this is how many reviews out there are just so much longer than they need to be... I picked Onslaught cause he's got a review that's 20 minutes long. 20 minutes! If you want to be informative with a review, great, but stick to what people need to know or you're going to get too long-winded to pay attention to. You don't have to be theatrical but you cannot be boring.
Best. Video. Review. Evar. Short, sweet, to the point with plenty of pics and no stuttering or fumbled transformations. They should all be like this, can't wait to see the next ones you do.
You started a rhyming fad, is that really very bad? It doesn't make me too mad, but I hope I don't get sad.
Length Shouldn't Be a Factor. I think reviews that are too long(I am guilty of this) or too short aren't always the best. You want to be informative, entertaining, and show all the important stuff. The Reason why my reviews are long cuz I talk about details, articulation, features, transformation both ways, and size comparisons. I also add my famous bad jokes in there I wish more people showed the transformation from Robot to Alt Mode cuz Alt Mode to Robot is too easy and to Overdone. I think my Favorite New Reviewer is Vangelus cuz he is the KING Of Subtitles and he makes the review not only informative but so Entertaining and that's what I try to do. Just being informative isn't enough. However I don't want to feed into the "Short Attention Span Society" and rush my reviews. When you are given no time limit why not take advantage of it. I think wether you make quick reviews like Peaugh or detailed long reviews like myself than it's just gonna be a matter of opinion and people like both.
I think reviews of any length rely mostly on the personality and charisma of the reviewer. In the right hands a longer review can feel like you're part of a good conversation and it can be entertaining. On the flip side a shorter review can possibly feel a little closed off! The person doing it has a lot to do with it, and lots of different ways can work. The more people that try different things the better though. One of the things I love so much about this video is that it's unique in style, way shorter than usual, and still gives a complete opinion on the toy. Kalel-Prime does occasional 1 minute reviews but even so, this still really stands out and that's cool. There shouldn't be any set formula or any pressure to hit all kinds of specific marks, I think at the end of the day it's just about giving some thoughts on a toy and having a little fun with it. The rest is a free for all
