Was planning a custom with him as the base, though I'm curious-how hard is he to take apart/put back together, and are there any joints likely to be a major problem once paint is on them? Any unpaintable plastic to keep an eye out for? Any and all advice appreciated.

Pretty easy to take apart, although I only did the bare minimum of disassembly, easy stuff like screws.

There are some rub spots, but nothing too difficult, just sanding down the problem areas and using very thin coats.

Here's one I did, almost all white. Krylon fusion, just be sure to do thin coats and allow a full day of cure time after the first coat.
