...conceived as an updated take on the G1 toon's art style, but ended up looking more like something out of Energon.

Anyhoo, here are the first couple of test shots - got a few ideas where to take this, but at the moment, I'm just enjoying the chance to get back to doing some TF-related 3D. :thumb

(Also, thanks to Draven and Venksta for the inspiration - your recent Universe and Classics pieces got me to finally say 'sod it' to the current game-related workload, even if briefly, and get back to doing something fun for a change!)

    C&C appreciated and welcome!

EDIT: Updated with final model image.

Looking good so far :)  I was inspired by the recent 3D stuff too, but I still can't figure out what I want to do :(

Sweetness. I would've done Henkei Hound, myself, but I guess that's always somethign you could do for fun. The head looks spot-on.

Thanks, all! Might give him a Henkei makeover once he's done, just to see how he'll look... :D

(Also knocked together a new background image for this little update, just to make things pop a little more.)

Know what you mean, BMG - was pretty much flummoxed myself before the afore-mentioned pieces gave me a 'eureka' shot to the brainpan. Then it was a case of who and how... :banghead:

Looking nice Sledgehammer. :D  I know what you mean about the Energon look. I think it is due to the model being to technically accurate. If wanted to make it look more like the G1 toon style, you would have to simplify the design and give him a more rounded look. But otherwise, the model is looking really good. :)

Thanks again, all - and I think you've hit the nail on the head, Venks. I did start off with a much simpler style, but it just looked bland and unappealing (I think the words I used went along the lines of 'bloody awful'). So I went back and layered on the detail, which I'm far happier with.

And I actually like Energon's art style as far as the CG was concerned - just a shame it was completely knackered by stilted and sluggish animation.

Not been in a position to do a great deal today apart from give him hands, so here's a moment of dull surprise when Hound realises someone's nicked the bottom half of his body, and Cyclonus has turned up to give him a bit of a kicking. :p

That's a really great model, Sledgehammer. Everything is nicely proportioned and the face is really stellar; dead on for Hound.

Cheers, Primus! Hope you're doing great yourself, we'll have to catch up before too long (maybe get the ol' Blockables up and running again)! :thumb

And many thanks also, SC - you'd never believe the mentalism I went through before I was happy with the face...

(Although nearly as much was involved in building his hologram projector...especially when MAX decided to have one of its 'moments'... :banghead: )

Thanks very much...and I'm using MAX 7, which is a bit like me - getting on a bit, but far from being past the sell-by date. :)

Another update...thinking about having a crack at iGear's Teletraan-1 diorama at some point too*, would make a neat environment for future renders. :thumb

*And I'd bet a dollar to a doughnut I'm not the only one... :p
