I bought both, but waiting for henkei.

Just get Universe if you wanna save $7-$10. Jolt sucks henkei or universe.

Henkei homages the show. Universe is based on the original toy. Something to keep in mind is that the henkei guns are actually the exhausts for the vehicle mode. Hasbo molded over the hole with a very under-detailed piece.

Henkei's grey over blue, plus the weapons, no contest.

Henkei. The addition of the guns, the grey and complete lack of allspark blue is what does it for me.

I do wish the Hasbro version came with guns as well, but since the actual toy is essentially the same with nothing different save for paint color, the domestic cheaper version always wins out for me. Plus chrome automatically=fail in my eyes.

Given that this mold has received mediocre reviews, at least from what I've heard and read, I'd go with the Universe one.

Opened the Universe version I bought yesterday, and my Henkei should arrive today. Hotshot isn't too bad, but the lack of weapons kinda kills him(Jolt just sucks IMO). So I'll have the Universe version hold the JaAm container I have while Henkei proudly displays his weapons, YAY!

I agree. Henkei all the way.

In my opinion, the Henkei version has the better paint scheme. Add the fact that you can take out the flame...missiles..and it looks like he has actual tail pipes in car mode. Chrome-tipped tail pipes, at that. :D

I'm for Universe myself, I think it captures the look of Armada Hot Shot better in general (plus he's got the jaAm reference on his licence plate, which Henkei doesn't have)

I dunno, the mold is fun. I tilt his back kibble back so it's not quite as restricting for his arms.

I agree. I wasn't around for armada/energon/cybertron so hot shot does nothing for me as far as nostalgia. But i did buy him to have a different mold to play with. His feet suck, and his shoulder plastic inhibits his arm articulation. His car mode is very cool though. I'd buy it for universe price but not much more.
