    Peaugh Reviews: Universe Starscream

He's pretty fly for a white guy.

    YouTube - Transformers Universe Starscream

Check out the HD version. I think a couple minor tweaks to the lighting set up and the new HD cam will be good to go!

Also, he's quite well put together for like the 8th use of the mold.

For what it's worth, mine was nice and tight too. No defects could be found.

Glad to hear it! I wonder if maybe there are multiple molds at different factories for this figure, and the new Starscream is from one of the less used ones? This one really is the best overall figure from this mold I've had, from joint tightness to paint apps.

Picked mine up yesterday. I love the figure, but it's worth noting that my example is actually more loose than my Acid Storm figure. I don't have any other representation of the mold to compare mine to, but I'd say mine is "adequately tight," but not overly so.

Yeah, I'm not entirely surprised, since I've heard of some people who picked up Uni. Starscream and found it to be a complete mess. I just figured that was par for the course after this many uses of the mold, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that mine was quite well put together. All of my versions of this mold have been adequate, with the exception of a VERY floppy right wing on my very first Classics Starscream. Even my Henkei Thundercracker only had one very slightly loose missile launcher, easily fixed. I wish we'd gotten some slightly better paint apps on this one, though. He does come with the painted face, but the rest of him seems so bland compared to previous version of the mold.

I have a theory on why it's so tight for most people(including me:) ), this is actually about the 3rd use of the mold, the first being the original & the 2nd Henkei, all the other seekers have used a retooled mold where the air intakes shoulder slope had been decreased and an extra rectangle was added to the vertical area. Here's where I got that info.

I checked to make sure (frankly, because I thought it was bull), but yeah. Classics Skywarp and Ramjet are actually made of that same mold and this Universe Starscream not. This Starscream is the same mold as the Henkei exclusives, by looking at my Thundercracker. I don't have an Acid Storm, but I'm sure it's from this more recent mold as well.

Anyway. Just wanted to say that I found the first 10 or so seconds of the video pretty funny as I also had no intention of buying this Starscream, but once I saw it I figured why not. I need a Starscream to fiddle around with while I watch G1 episodes and such.

Acid Storm has 5 little rectangles on his "shoulders" while Starscream has 4 (or vice versa, don't have toys with me right now)... my point is, more than one seeker mold.

LOL I have these right in front of me. There is literally a different mold for Classics Seekers and Universe/Henkei Seekers.

Classics Starscream, Skywarp, & Ramjet have the 4 rectangle intakes.

Henkei Thundercracker & Universe Starscream have 5.

Anyone have Henkei Starscream and Acid Storm to confirm this?

Here's how it is based on the versions I own:
4 rectangles, higher slope:Classics Starscream, Universe 2.0 Starscream

5 rectangles, lower slope:Classics Ramjet, Henkei Ramjet, Universe 2.0 Acid Storm

Oh I know. A lot of times it looks good on the camera screen, but then not so much once I transfer it onto youtube. I think it'll look great once it's all dialed in, and I've shot some sample vids to tweak it, but it just takes time to use a camera with all of these manual functions after using one that did everything automatically.

Right! I'd forgotten all about that until you mentioned it. Most Likely the case, I'll have to double check against my Henkei figs when I get home.
