Classics BRAWN...WIP *Updated with weapon pics*

Hi again everybody, This is my first Universe custom, heavily inspired by SMOG, and his thread on the concept. Great idea, my friend!

I have had many requests for tutorials and such, so heres a WIP 2 days into the project. Most everything is made from Styrene, but the hindges, they are made from black ABS, Its much stronger than styrene, and looks great buffed out and unpainted.

As also inspierd by SMOG, I used a Cyclonus head to replicate the cartoon. I made his roof transforn to his chest, and as this is a WIP, im still working on his knees, hood scoop, rear bumper, and front end with G1 hound headlights.

I wont be giving him a rear roof section, instead I gave him a spare tire rack, that transforms into a tommy gun, with the spare being the ammo magazine. I made the barrel from piece of a targetmaster that came with a Stepper reissue, and scratch built the folding stock from black ABS. I hope that does'nt count as a partsformer.:peoples:

I posted this because I have a feeling Brawn will be a popular mod for Hound, so maybe these pics might help with other peoples projects.

Yeah, I'd have loved to send my animated Scoponok to Spurt to paint up!

As for a spare tire, can you find a toy jeep with a spare and big mudders? Than you could do a rubber tire swap and have the spare tire/ammo can!

I thought of that after I saw the Hound F_R did with rubber tires, but I need to cut the spare and make part of the tire hinge to get the Tommy gun right. There isnt much room without making the spare too high, unfortunatly, I think I need that hollow plastic tire.

Egad, he customises the new toys as well as improving the old ones!

Looking forward to seeing your take on this, looks great already.

As I've already said in my thread, you've done me proud! This is all kinds of awesome! I should be so lucky to simply come up with ideas, and have other people expertly execute them for me.

er... you are sending this one to me when you're done, right? ;)  ;)  ;)

I was thinking of doing something similar for the chest/cap... but I was uncertain about the mechanics of building a hinged arm of that length. You are sufficiently skilled I see, that such a thing gives you no pause. The awkward bit is that now the roof has to be yellow... but that's not really a serious issue.

I'm curious though... is the enlarged hood-vent necessary to allow more clearance for the Cyclonus head? Or does it just look cool? :)

LOL, I guess the mechanics are the strong points in my customs, Im not quite as skilled with my paintwork, but im thinking the roof will be a very orangey yellow, with the "sunroof" section black with a faction symbol on it, the main figure an olive green, I think it might look cool, even though its not entirely G1 accurate.

The hood scoop is to replicate the G1 toy, it will be painted black. But its not necessary for clearance.

Looks awesome man! As far as the yellow/orange roof goes, I wonder if you could do what you already did, but allow for the roof to flip around? That way the underside of the roof could be yellow/orange with the top being green...

I actually was playing with the idea, but the only way I could see would to be running the pivot on the outside of the chest, or having the chest built up to acomadate a rotating pivot in the middle. Both would sacrafice the bot mode, and the alt mode more than a yellow/orange roof, so I nixed the idea.

I'd offer a trade to ya of my painting this if you make me another hound like this, as my styrene sculpting sucks, but your work looks like it would cost more than my painting.. Oh well, great job on this!

Well, I sorta HAVE been screwing around. :)

But then, it'll be a shock when I actually ever finish an extensive mod I've started. This way, I at least I get to feel like an inspirational visionary or something.
