I might be interested in buying one of the heads and the gun but not with the intent of using it on the hasbro repaint of cybertron soundwave, which I didn't care for in the first place. Was massively disappointed when they used it for Blaster as I had been longing for an all new mold for one of my fave Marvel TF comic characters. I'd have the visor down to match the Marvel design but not sure yet what I'd use for the body. Anyways really nice design work on the head, gun and Steeljaw looks great too.
I think this looks great, wouldn't mind head and rifle for the one i got in the works...what size are thr parts compared to the g1 parts? again great work!
I could care less about the guitar or even Steeljaw (unless he turned into a hexagon like blockrock and the guns). My only other desire would be for a Marvel Comics Blaster head, since that's my favorite version of the character, but I want one anyway...
No real updates, as I'm still trying to get the Skyfall kit out. I've been approached by two different 3rd party groups to release this, along with Steeljaw, as part of a set. I'm still considering it, but nothing is final. The plan is for me to still release these on my own. Steeljaw would never been included with the kit. He would cost atleast over $50 alone. The guitar is probably not happening. Since there has been alot of requests for the Marvel style face, I'm thinking of making it, but it will be a limited part for this release. It will basically be a swappable face piece, like the other two. I won't know the price and exact run until I start producing them. Its kind of hard to do all this myself. I'd say the head is about close to the G1 head. But my version will come on a balljoint, to make it easy to install on the Universe toy. So you would have to customise it to fit the G1 body.
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/9/93/BlasterUS17.jpg http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/e/ed/Blasterbeourleaderplease.jpg The trick to getting Comics Blaster right, he needs his yellow or blue goggles, yellow face, and red forehead. So to do it accurately, you'd need a red forehead piece in addition to the new face. I hope you can, because I'd definitely pay a little extra to get it more accurate. Thanks Chris
Alright, here is a quick mockup of the Comic style head. I'm not making it exact, as the heads are suppose to be updated some what, to go with the classics style. Anyways, the plan for this head would be to cast the visor in red, and include a new face, which would need 3 paint applications. Let me know what you guys think. If I release this version, it'll be a small run on its own (head, red visor, comic face, gun.
I wanted to see what the comic face looked like with the Cybertronian helmet. So here is a render. Please let me know what you guys think of the comic face, and if it is something you would like to see released or not. When I do release it, which I plan, then I'll go through this thread first, and offer the kits to everyone that showed interest. I do plan to make sure there is enough kits for members on this board, and other TF fans. So its not really urgent for people to go on a preorder list.
Late follower of this kick-ass thread! You rock, sir! : I'll PM you if its still not too late for you to accept payments for these super-upgrade parts!
They all look awesome! I don't have that Blaster figure, but if I did I'd be very, very tempted. I'm sorry if I missed it in the thread, but did you do these in Solidworks? That's a program that I'm really eager to learn.
Both versions of the Comic Blaster look great, except for the gray around the eyes... it really should be red, too. I realize it's another paint app, but the gray is really distracting. The "modern" one fits a little better with the Universe toy than the original, though. Thanks, and I can't wait!
I'd be interested in a cartoon styled head. Then I'd need to track down a Blaster. And those things were everyone a year ago...
I think you should increase the poly count and define those lips more. They look inflated and kind of strange. His lips would look much better flatter and closer to the face with hard edges to give them that semi robotic look. Also if they were lower to the chin they would match the proportions of a face more closely. Also consider giving him a grin to reflect his character. Overall you're modeling is pretty decent. Can't wait to see this printed.
I hope you don't mind but I did a paint over to illustrate the differences. It only took me a moment, so it may be worth the time to come up with an assortment of expressions and have the community vote on which one they would like to see. Just an idea.
