I think so. He has a problem with parts popping off, and his minicon is pitiful, but I quite like him just the same.

The transformation is a bit fiddly and awkward at first, but it's inventive and fun once you have the hang of it. Posability is decent enough, though not the best. I like the overall look. The design is rather unique and recognisable. He has his own thing going and it stands out. I was never a fan of that shade of yellow, but it works.

I thought Universe Legends Hot Rod was designed with Hot Shot repaint potential in mind, but so far that hasn't happened. There is no Legends Hot Shot (other than Cybertron).

If you remove the back kibble during transformation, you can position it afterwards on his back that gives his arms full articulation. His alt mode is very cool and worth it. The minicon doesn't stand unless he is throwing up. But that is ok, because I have him in alt mode on Unicron's ring. If you like new molds, and new toys to play with, get him. I wouldn't pay more than 10 to 12 though.

I like him. Good mold overall. Cool transformation. His mini-con wont stand up on his own but is still a cool little TF in his own right. The only thing I wish is that he came with the guns that the Henkei version come with.

I like the figure. It is a tremendous improvement over the original armada version, but there are some things wrong with it. Mainly the rear half of the car. It becomes kibble on his back that gets in the way of everything. But you can pop it off and he looks much better. Also you can peg the extra kibble onto his arms giving him a Boxing type look.

Never had the Henkei so I can't help there.

While I like the character and this molds Transformation. This mold frusturates me to no end.

The back kibble gets in the way and you can arrange it to help his give his arms better movement the kibble just still doesn't look right.

    Jolt is horrible.

That being said, I'm looking forward to Dion :lol

Jolt is horrible. The Henkei version has kibble that fits a bit better, and has cannons, but I don't like the colors on it and he doesn't have a JaAm liscense plate.

So really, go with the Universe version. JaAm is delicious. :)

Also, I cut off the spoilers on mine and he now has no articulation or transformation problems.

If you join the Collector's Club in the next 40 days, you get the Dion repaint for "free" (in the sense that you paid $40 to join the club...). It's got the weapons like the henkei version, and what I consider a nicer color scheme, but it's pretty much up to you.

I recently posted these photos in the cool stuff thread... move the kibble around and he's got great articulation. The minicon is worthless. I love the transformation, very inventive and fun!

It'sdefinitely not the best TF out there but far from the worst. Others have gone over its major limitations so I won't add to that but obviously there are fixes for it....I only have the Hasbro version but the cannons on the Henkei would be a nice addition if they werent chromed (IMO). If you can find one for retail I'd say go for it.

Hot Shot is actually a great toy hampered by the fact that they put the car's spoiler on the wrong place. Cut them off, move them- whatever. Get rid of those and you have a great toy.

    There's no saving Jolt, however.

And I bought the Henkei! so I'd give that a recommendation. Even if I only bought the figure to repaint.

    Very informative. Thanks!

I wonder if this means the photographers incorrectly transformed the toy.
