Why haven't Hasbro decided on some kind of hand hole for guns that is compatible with every figure...It just seems stupid that you can't mix and match guns with different figures...

Huh? Most figures since post-movie G1 have a standard peghole.

    Really?
None of my TFs can properly use each others' weapons...

Then I guess that begs the obvious question, what TFs do you have?

I exaggerated a bit there, now that I give it a second thought, but a lot of TFs do use a standard system. Unicron trilogy definitely, some later G1 stuff like Headmasters and Targetmasters, RID, Classics... the only times I can think of where a vast majority of figures wouldn't be compatible would be BW/BM and Animated. With some of the less traditional characters in BW and BM, weapons could attach to hands in entirely random and individual ways if a standard fist wasn't part of the transformation, like TM2 Spittor or Dinobot II. The BM Maximals were even worse about that sort of thing.

As for Animated, I think not using them was an intentional move, since it doesn't fit with the intended style. Or something.

Classics Mirage's hand is too small to hold standard weapons (I think?) and Universe Galvatron has no peg holes at all. These are the only 2 cases I can think of off the top of my head.

edit - just realized the thread title is "universal" not "universe." If he's talking about Animated then he might have a point (I dont own any Animated toys so I cant exactly confirm it)

If my memory of TF figures is correct, there are currently 5 main hand shapes:

    - The 5mm hand hole (Scout/Deluxe)
    - The other sized hand hole (bigger figures)
    - Open palmed, can't hold weapon(most Movie/Animated figures)
    - Open palmed but can hold a weapon (SWTF/Alternators)
    - Fist, but no hole (Minicons/Legends)
    - Hands in a 'devil-horn' position (Marvel TF Spidey)

Okay, the last one doesn't really count. But that's basically it, AFAIK.

Just popping in to say Chosen knows what he's talking about.

And Mirage's hands are slightly smaller.

Boywhoscreams- Look into getting some Energon scouts. They're pretty good figures and their weapons are generically designed (and compatible with just about everything). There have also been a couple exclusive versions of the weapons... But those are kinda expensive.

You forgot the figures without hands, such as Movie Jazz or claws like Barricade. I also wish they would make a standard peg for all, it could make for some interesting scouts with BFG :rock
