cool review. Subscribed as well.
Cool. That was helpful.
Hasbro's Generations version is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer!
i am now happy i preordered the united version thanks for the review
Naturally as a Wheeljack fan, i like the look of the United version. If i HAD to have him, i'd take him obviously. But i'm perfectly content with the Hasbro version. The green is much more accurate to the way he looked in the cartoon. I also really love the fact that "ears" are clear on the Hasbro version. The United one, IMO is a nice looking figure, but the differences aren't major enjoy to justify paying the extra money for. Great review though!
Just noticed they didn't give United Wheeljack a rear window. Odd.
Probably going for the race car look. IDK. It would have been nice if the US version had a little greean and the UN version a little more red. Also, Has anybody noticed the wrinkles on US WJ's striping? I cant get over it.
Preferrin' the Hasbro one, mostly because of the robot's chest. Either would suit me fine, but I obviously went the cheaper route and am perfectly happy with it.
Tell your friend that the music was the freaking AWESOME!!!!
Well I will go for the generation one. More g1 to me.
Ive got x2 of the Hasbro WJ and plan to get the United one as well.
Great and neat review! Simple explanation and precise.
i normally prefer takara's paint apps but this time i gotta say the generation one is better, has a more G1 feel....
Hmmmm.... Very interesting!
I like the way Takara continued the green on the side on the upper part of the door instead of stopping it halfway up like Hasbro did.
I absolutely love the way United Wheeljack's rear window is covered by racing stripes. It really makes him look more like a race car and differentiates him from Tracks's street car look. That rally car rear window is the defining trait of the United version I love over the Hasbro version.
I also like that the tail lights on United Wheeljack are just single red dots (accurate to the original Lancia vehicle mode) instead of being a copy of the Tracks style tail lights.
I prefer the Hasbro version's roof/chest and shade of green though. That looks a lot more like Wheeljack to me than the United version's all-new take on the robot chest paint design (which isn't bad, it just doesn't look as much like Wheeljack).
I also prefer the way Hasbro's version has clear ears which mimic his cartoon version.
I still wish somebody, maybe a third-party accessory maker, could make a glue-on set of rear window louvers like the original rally Lancia. I was actually surprised to see the remold didn't do something different with the rear window on Wheeljack. I always thought the rear louvers were one of that vehicle mode's defining characteristics. They even included it on Energon Downshift.
Either way, I'm going to be happy with the Hasbro version. I wish the rear window was done more differently to differentiate him from Tracks. I can modify the rear taillights myself.
If I had to pick, I'd pick United BUT since both look good, I think I'll be fine with the Hasbro version. Looks more like the G1 toy anyway. I have both Generations and United Scourge and I think Generations Scourge is fine too.
The United figures that I have that are must get, is Perceptor, Tracks, and Voyager Megatron. I want Jazz but the prices have gone up like crazy.
Months ago when they revealed the paint scheme for the united version, I was all about it. But I don't like the shade of green they used now that I see the full comparison of the two. Plus the actual designs on the Universe one are more like the paint job given to the Lancia race car and G1 Wheeljack. And lastly, I go for a level of realism in the paint/color scheme of things. (That's why I personally went with the Classics version of Astrotrain. I don't know of too many Gray Shuttles...) A car without a rear window is strange to me. He's not a shipping truck that solely relies on mirrors. Especially since the rear window is actually molded into the toy. (Rant finished!)
Just got mine and loving it!
I tend to agree. Hasbro's version seems to be much more accurate, IMO. But it was a great review...
Really nice review, but I hated the music, not my style.
I agree they're both nice and I don't see the point of paying that much extra for the UN version.
Both got highs and lows. I have the Generations version. I like it a little better because of the painted rear glass.
That said I now declare United the better line as they actually plan to distribute them.
For shame Hasbro! You screwed the USA.
