Here is a pictorial comparison of the two. We are all probably familiar with the figure by now so no review is really needed. This will help show some side by side differences and help you maybe decide, if interested, in a worthy import.

My personal opinion. Love this version more than Hasbro.
The dark kind of gritty gray is much closer to the game version with a rough look to him. Maybe a little on the dark side but much better than the Hasbro almost clean white.

My only problems, which is on the hasbro version as well, is there is purple light piping but paint over red, why red was not just used I dont know.

Also the red on the gun is too solid where the hasbro version has the black lines breaking up.

Also the CON symbol, too much purple and it blends together too much.

Other than that, IMO Takara wins this one! You can find my Hasbro version for sale soon in my sales thread :D

Great comparison. I'm calling it: best Megatron toy released so far.

I like the paint job on the Takara Megatron better than Hasbro, however the Decepticon logo on the Hasbro figure is far better than Takara's.

Uggh. I think both missed the mark. This one is just simply too dark. The Hasbro one, while more accurate, used the "unpainted like" gray plastic that's been plaguing recent releases instead of the nicer silvers.

This one definitely would've benefited better of the silver paint used on United Megatron. It would've darkened the figure, without going to dark and probably would've been the best representation of the video game model. Unfortunately, while I like the color, it is waaaayyy to dark.

The Hasbro version's colors look better in Alt mode while the United version's colors are better in bot mode. Maybe the reason for that is the lighting or the background. The United is different enough to own both. But with all the cool stuff already announced for this year, the United version is not first in line for purchasing.

I don't particularly like United's WFC Megatron. I think my personal issue with it is that the colors, while much darker and closer to the game in that respect, are also far too bronze or brown. You can't really pass it off as Megatron hidden by shadows. Even though the shade is much closer, the brown tint itself is too jarring and strong. Generations WFC Megatron may be much brighter and cleaner, but that kind of silver is still closer to the way I remember him in the game. There's no excuse for the way United Megatron's Decepticon symbol or gun turned out either.

It's like comparing the bland silver color a lot of people hate (which I don't think Generations Megatron resembles) to that equally bland tan that was poorly used on Voyager Prime in the Prime/Bonecrusher two-pack, among other figures. Both were unpleasant colors, but the tan one was just putrid.

    I... I don't believe this...

While both are freaking things of beauty, I find myself preferring the HASBRO version for once!!!!

One is too dark the other too light. I prefer my own repaint.

Still gonna go with my Hasbro one, since I only spent $8 on it at a TRU sale. Takara version is nice but too dark for my taste.

Not much of a fan for this mold, but the United colors are enticing me.

    Hmm, great comparison pics, man!
However, all I need is abit of patience and Gundam weathering markers to
    make Hasbro's version more WFC-ish. :D

The Hasbro one is actually very accurate in person. It's just that the lighting in WFC is often a bit dark, making him look darker.

Still, United version looks cool too, except for the con symbol.

He was pretty Hasbro-ish in CG-vids, if you ask me.

In the game itself he didn't seem so dark either, but rather burnt and scarred.

idk; both are nice, but the hasbro one, the detail is just easier to see, but both are nice. i just think that he looks better a little lighter. then the dark one.

Although the Takara version looks really nice the Hasbro version is more accurate in a few areas.

Although he appears pretty dark in the game it is mostly the game's lighting, this makes the issue as to which is more accurate to the game debatable.

His face should be a bit darker than the rest of his head, Hasbro replicated this well but Takara made it almost the same shade or a even bit brighter.

The red should be pretty pale and washed out, almost a fushia. Both toy versions are way too saturated but the Hasbro version is slightly less so.

The top parts of Megatron's knees are the same color as his upper body, as is on the Hasbro version. Takara is such a dark silver that it's almost black.
