I keep going back and forth with this guy. He looks like a chunky monkey in the pics but if you watch the movie, he was a bulky character.

 

I think the only thing that none of the 5(?) have managed to get right is his damn face. I still think Allen's got the best bod out of the lot (so far).

 

Hey guys, sorry to dig this thread up. I just preordered Allen from BBTS since they have that sale and he's 50% off. I was planning on waiting for Apache, but it's hard to justify the price differential. Is there anything I should be concerned about quality wise with Allen. I was always interested in him as obviously Springer is a favorite of mine. I may be willing to double dip for him. Just wondered if anyone knew why he was discounted so much. Thanks.

Is there a special autobot logo that fits perfectly into his chest, like MPP10s shoulder logo? Visually he looks great but that recess in his chest bugs the crap out of me.

Great choice! This figure is beyond solid and yeah people always forget that Springer was "chubby" they want all their boys to be mr universe. I highly recommend the reprolabels set for this guy. It has the perfect cut out for that indentation on the chest

There's something wrong here. Third quarter is almost over and he's nowhere to be found.

 

Just bit the bullet on that BBTS preorder. Who knows if it'll come through at this point, but with zero risk, why not?

$60 seems like a steal. I'm not 100% in love with the robot mode sculpt from pics, but I feel Allen's the only 3P offering (except XTB perhaps?) to nail the appearance of both vehicle modes. Plus he seems to get high marks for how he handles in-hand. Looking forward to him!

 

It will come through... UT isn't going anywhere and neither is BBTS. I think this and Open Play Spring will itch my Springer scratch; for the moment.

 

Why is there worry about it not coming through? Is there word that UT is closing shop or something?

 

That's how I feel -- love the alt modes, toy looks extremely playable, and the non-toon elements of the bot mode don't bother me that much.

That being said, anyone have suggestions for paint and color if I wanted to repaint the legs and face for accuracy?

 

Nah, nothing like that. Just looking at the rumblings of discontent in this thread from folks that pre-ordered him months ago.
