He looks freaking stunning. I really can't wait to see more! But knowing UT it'll probably be 6-8 months before we get color pics. I'm also really interested in the new head for Challenger and how that's coming along.

 

I'm curious about the face mask mechanics. It is a switch mechanism like on the leader or is there an actual piece that's swapped out?

 

I'd say based on their previous pieces, it would just be an interchangeable face. Plus, more moving pieces in the head means that accuracy will have to be compromised for a gimmick, and that's not something I want. And I also have no idea how they'll implement the led with the face switching mechanism already in there

Man, the new head sculpt just makes Challenger that much more impressive. Hope someone decides to give him bigger, more articulated hands. They're only on a mushroom peg. Smaller plastics might be more fragile, but this figure deserves it.

 

Definitely. I'd actually say that there's a high chance that unique toys is gonna do that for optimus themselves, cause they're already making an upgrade kit for lockdown with additional weapons.

Probably not the horns, cause those are pretty large pieces, but there could be some kind of locking mechanism that allows you to switch between horns closed or open.

Overall I feel unique toys have improved greatly from their first release with lockdown, and they're getting better and better with each subsequent one. Only problem I have with Megatron so far is the elbows, which look too "g1" for my taste. But I mean the movie aesthetic is a hard one to perfect, even for Hastak, so I give them props for that.

Wonder how long before they come back with a rerelease featuring a more premium paint job? (they don't have a history of that, but somehow this guy is just begging for it) That really is the one place where El Cid was possibly superior.

 

Holy PRIMUS, he looks impossibly good! That masked head... all the yes. These UT movie figures are becoming must-haves; they seriously have some magicians on their design team.

I can't wait to see what laws of physics this thing breaks to turn into a jet.

 

I think UT said that it will be transformable, the same goes for the new head for Challenger.

 

I wish they would be making proper Original Trilogy figures (a new Ironhide pls), but that just rocks.
