A wide A-stance is kinda a problem with a lot of combiners. I bet it will hold better with some rubber pads under the feet.

I didn't get into this for the combined mode, but that video doesn't disappoint me at all. And I have Constructor, which has amazing stability.

It's probably too much to hope that Onslaught's retail release will get outer ratchet movement in those hips huh?

True, but if you look closely, it seems even past a very shallow A-stance, Ragnaros tends to start shuffling outwards a bit, and these already come with rubber pads on the feet (or, at least, ones you can put on the feet) to my knowledge. Whether or not they were on there in that video, I'm not sure.

It really could have done with some ratchets though. It just bothers me because Ordin had these problems, but instead of fixing them, they did the exact same thing...

In the first, hour-long video, I heard ratchets when he raised the right leg 90° and then let it drop back down. I could be wrong, but it sounded to me like the outwards/lateral hip joints were ratcheted.

Dissapointed to see that, thought they would've made it more stable.

Mines going to be a display piece and rarely transformed or posed (apart from photos) so the semi open a stance is OK with me.

If Ragnaros is as stable as Ordin I'll have no complaints. Ordin is one of the more stable combiners on my shelf.

He comes with felt pads... Which kinda baffles me. Felt doesn't have the grip that rubber does. It's like they are meant to protect the shelf rather than add grip.

I don't see it as bad as you seem too- plus this is likely a preproduction figure and based on the "screeching" plastic on the table top sound they're not using the foot pads either. I'm just not worried at all based on this one video.

The pads don't feel like felt to me- more like foamy rubber type material?

I think that was onslaughts outward ratcheted hips you heard. Seems like they don't lock into place so they keep needing to be put back into place.

That "A stance" they put him in was extremely wide. I don't know of many figures that could remain in that position for long without toppling over let alone one this size. The fact it remained upright as long as it did was impressive. I'm also relatively certain that had there been rubber on the feet it would have held up just fine.

The pads weren't applied. The reviewer wanted to show how well he stands without them.

Later he admitted he's just lazy.

Thanks for posting. I think "completely fail to hold the weight" is a little extreme, though. Before watching it, based on your description I expected him to topple over or fall into a complete split. His legs go out slightly, then catch themselves. Nothing disastrous.

For me, the point where that happened was wider than a normal looking a stance anyway. But again, it was only a little bit of a shuffle and then it stops and he remains standing. I though Onslaught had soft ratchets in the outward hips; could have been where the ratchet caught. It's worth pointing out though, that the added weight were not the limbs from this set (looks like F. Rex's arms?). It's possible Blast Off and Vortex will actually be heavier than the ones used in the video, so it could be more dramatic when the proper limbs are actually on there. Something to watch out for.

They were definitely not on there in the video. You can see the bottoms of the feet multiple times.

Ordin is shockingly stable for me too. Surprised me after all the issues with those hips but the friction never failed me.

Video looked good to me, I was expecting him to be constantly falling over with the earlier comments but he looks as I expected from a torso bot that provides the hips and thighs. Would have been nice to see a comparison to Constructor but I guess it'll be out in a few weeks anyways.

I was thinking the same thing. I would have settled for a comparison to any figure, TBH. Just something to give me an idea on how he looks.

My main concern now is that the limbs are gonna look beefier than the torso, i guess it's inevitable if Onslaught is being used for the legs, and there's no parts-forming involved.

I'll put my own rubberized pads on his feet and this guy will be good to go.
