I just bought the 25th anniversary tftm colored unicron, and it states he is a decepticon.

Last time I checked, unicron ate galvatron, all tf fought unicron shockwave to junkions, unicron killed autobots AND decepticons when attacking cybertron (who "after g1" is primus, so let's say primus was too lazy to tf then - although the original tftm script had prime tf cybertron to fight unicron) but just because unicron is evil, does that make him a decepticon?

Quintessons are evil, they arent decepticons (not sure if toys were made).

And why is primus a autobot, he gave birth (first vector, then quintessons, then primus lol) to both autobots AND decepticons (I like the idea of primus making quintessons who made tfs).

So for toy purposes they throw a tag on for the hell of it?

Exactly. It's not the first time it's happened, either (in fact, it's not the first time that it's happened to Unicron either- most if not all Unicron toys label him as a Decepticon).

It's a silly marketing thing. Don't think too hard about it.

Yeah, he's been a "decepticon" for pretty much every release of his toy.

Kids need to know who's good and who's bad. Unicron is obviously a baddie, thus he's packaged as a Con. When you rip him out of the packaging it's ultimately up to you who's side hes on so I don't see what the problem is.

Got to have somethinng to put on the packaged. Kids are familiar with cons, so thats what Unicron is going to be. Period. But they have been wise enough to not put a con symbol anywhere on him...

Is Primus labelled as an Autobot then? I really don't remember, heh.

In Transformers Energon, he was labeled as a mini-con, maybe because he created the mini-cons.

It's their generic version of Good/Bad. Every toy has to be labeled as such, no Neutrals. Zodac of He-Man had this same issue way back in 1982 or so. Gnaw in G1, a Sharkticon, was labeled as Decepticon.
