Purely G1 mainly cartoon but comics can chime in.

Was there size stats between these two behemoths? Has a possible vs. Match ever been brought up and if not would it be interesting if it did happen?

Fortress Maximus = size of a building (maybe a city).

Unicron = size of a planet

Size of a moon. He was smaller then cybertron and if I were to scale by his head in the movie I'd fathom the size of 4 sears towers stacked on top of each other.

Unicron's scale was wonky. In the Movie, Hot Rod cleanly crashes the Quintesson ship he's piloting through Unicron's eye. But in Five Faces of Darkness, when Cyclonus and the Sweeps visit Unicron's head, they just about have to duck when they step through his eye socket. And obviously Cyclonus and the Sweeps are much smaller than a Quintesson spaceship.

Then there's also Ghost in the Machine that's worth considering. Unicron was able to use eyes from Metroplex and Trypticon, so were their eyes roughly the same size? What's the size difference between Metroplex and Fortress Maximus?

True but there was wording somewhere about his size. Comics have an answer?

The eye thing, was it the actual eyes or the device that makes the eyes work?

Either way, Unicron is way bigger then Fort Max.

Even with the size errors within the series you can see that Fort Max was able to stand on Cybertron and not look much bigger then a cybertronion building.

Unicron on the other hand towered over everything on Cybertron

In the Marvel comics, Unicron was a little smaller. Fort Max was the size of an average transformer (same height as Galvatron, and G2 Megatron)

    There's no contest.

Was Cerebros the head of Fortress Maximus in the Comics or was it Buster\Spike?

His first head parasite was Galen, (his mate Kord head-sat on occasion).

During a full body upgrade, Cerebros became his head. After the upgrade was complete, Maximus seemingly started shrinking again. Spike came along after the upgrade, if I remember correctly.

I think it's just symbiotic rather then parasitical.

Well then the toy productions vs promotion through cartoons and comics is a massive fail. Toy wise Fortress Maximus pwns Unicron haha,
