I article surfing on Transformers Wiki and I somehow ended up on the "Animorphs" page. I read that the toys were based on 90's TV show that was in turn based on the books. Now, having really liked the books as a kid I got curious and found the first episode of the Animorphs TV show on youtube. And Lo and behold, less then four min in I notice that the video game they're playing is none other then our good friends, the Beast Warriors. Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Ratrap, Rhinox, Dinobot, they're all there. Here's the link to the video Animorphs 1x01 "My Name is Jake, Part 1" - YouTube

Skip to 3:55 if you don't want to watch crappy 90's acting. (and I mean crappy)

Well, I'll be damned. I remember watching that show when I was little (liked the books better), but I don't remember that. Then again, I didn't watch too much of Beast Wars until later.

Yeah, you weren't kidding about the "crummy acting".

I remember that reference, a bad game to a, as I remember it, bad show.

Another slight yet funny reference is that the last animorph toys they had lined up for release, actually were converted into the Beast Wars "mutant" toys.

A lot of 90s kids shows have really bad acting now that I look at them today. For example Goosebumps.

Doubtful, hasbro lets the third party companies do what they want, I doubt they are concerned about this, when they were the ones making the Animorphs toys back in the day

I remember seeing that when I was little kid. I wanted that game so bad too. Animorphs was cool. The books were good, but I wasn't a fan of the toys.

Is that Beast Wars game the same one that came out on PS1/PC back in the 90's?

I remember Animorph toys being released under the TF banner...

so I wouldn't say it's all that unexpected.

    nice easter egg, though.

There was almost certainly a relationship between the people behind Animorphs and Hasbro at that time, so it's entirely possible that inclusion was intentional product placement.

By the way... Do 'Reboot' cartoon have any references to BW? I watched it in 90s and faintly remember some big monkey there, but don't sure is it related to Primal or rather to King Kong.

They made references to Power Rangers, Mortal Kombat & many other games, but I can't recall anything about Beasties & Shadow Raiders. My guess would be that those shows came after Reboot, but the late Reboot episodes might have still been in production. I'm too lazy to look into it hah.
