I saw this on fark. It's pretty wild, to say the least. However, you never know - Richards may be mid-drugs or mid-alcohol binge or something like that. Usually the worst of entertainers comes out after they've hit a high point and are trying to avoid fading away.

EDIT: I'd pay to see him say it around Samuel L. Jackson.

That's a real shame. He was great as Stanley in UHF, and Kramer was the only Seinfeld character I sorta liked.

    Me.

Anyway, it's sad that someone who is (supposedly) a professional comic isn't quick enough on their feet to shoot down hecklers without slinging the racial slurs. I'm sure Richards can kiss his career goodbye after this.

Is this the current fad of Hollywood, to use racial slurs in public? Sheesh.

    WOW!!!:redface2:

At least Mel Gibson was drunk, Michael Richards seems sober and lucid. So I don't know what his excuse is.

Shocking how in this day and age people will still resort to racial slurs.

A few years back a clerk at the comic store called me a "F'ing N'ger boy". So I can empathize with those guys. You're just so overcome with shock you don't know how to react.

NO amount of public apology will erase this blotch off his record

Heard about this on sean hannity and saw it on Fark.com.. Yeah Richards was stone cold sober and is just an ass. Gibson was at least drunk and made a public apology.... and got parodied on Law & Order. I hate actors like that that complete dicks in real life. Pathetic.

He did apologize. He's still an asshole though. The Katrina tangent though....WTF?

If you notice it was taken particaly out of contex. What did the black guy say to him first that made him have such a strong come back? For so many MF's it must not have been to nice. He shouldn't have said it, but the overlooked question is why he said it?

    That’s vary disappointing.

Some of my favorite comics push that race envelope and I have seen/ heard comics go bug shit on hecklers (in real life and recordings), but that was just too much. TO carry it on for as long as he did and to keep pushing it was stupid.

I think I still have an MP3 of Bill Hicks just destroying some woman that had been heckling him. Now that’s some one who can pull off a spaz out with skill.

God...I frackin hate racism. I mean, he says something bad about a colored person, BAM! all over the news.

I bet if L called a white guy *insert white guy insult here*, nothing would happen. Nothing.

Well none of the racial epithets for white people carry quite the same weight as the “N-word” dose.

    "particaly?"

It wasn't taken out of context. Richards tweaked on an audience member without justification. It doesn't matter what the audience member said - crowds heckle comedians all the time. Proper or not, it comes with the territory and you have to be able to handle it.

Richards didn't. Richards freaked and in the end embarassed himself and offended more than just the people in the room.

    Are you a white guy?

    No?

Are you anybody important in some highly visable ethnic/minority community?

What happens if you say something negative about white people depends on these factors. I can tell you this much if Deval Patrick(MA Governer Elect) called a bunch of republicans "Honkeys" and it got out to the public he whould have never ever EVER won the Governers race in Massachusettes

BTW Whose L? I'm hoping you meant "I"
