Hello everyone, You are looking at a repaint of an Alternators Optimus Prime figure. Like many of you I wished Takara or Hasbro would have done a white version of Optimus as Ultra Magnus but seeing as the Alternators line has become a distant memory to Hasbro I decided it was time to make one for myself. This project was kind of a pain in the butt due to all the sanding and making of parts. I used a black primer so that I could get a true white color, if you paint white over the red plastic the bottom red color will peak through and make your white look a little pink. I tinted the front and rear windows blue to give it a more Ultra Magnus feel. The rear tail lights were taken apart then the inner section was painted silver wuth a touch of blue in the light area. The detail work was done by brush with Testor & Folkart acrylic paint. Sticker/labels: I made from a Repolabels layout for Optimus Primes Alternators model. The box: I scanned the front and back of the box and took out all the red in the image. I then had to play with the levels and layer options to get the artwork to were I wanted it. It's pretty close to what I ended up painting Ultra Magnus. The Alternators Prime I used was missing its gun so I ended up buying the BT Optimus Prime upgrade kit from TFSource. The new Gas-can gun for Ultra Magnus helps make him look more like his old G1 self and he has the Matrix in his chest This project took its time but turned out pretty good. I recommend picking up a loose Prime and try turning him into Ultra Magnus.
you know I wondered the same thing. Takara / Hasbro is all about repaints. I simple repaint and they could have sold more. When they decided to bring back Prime in BT I thought, for sure they would make Magnus....... Yours is the next best thing. Looks great.

Excellent job man, looks like it was made to be UM! * Also, I know it's near impossible to make him armor that would go with him but make some BIG NASTY guns man to compensate, I mean, it's Ultra Magnus!
That has to be one of the tidiest repaints i have ever seen! It doesnt look like a repaint. Its so tidy and clean it looks like the plastic was molded in that color, and the decals are perfect. Truly superior work man! Well done!
