i think what had really happened was that he had showed up to ultra magnus before his cover was blown and and changed to shockwave and blasted ultra magnus in the back.since shockwave thew magnus doesn't always look at his bots when they are talking to him and give him a opening to do a lot of damage to magnus.that the only way he could had got the upper hand on magnus and did as much damage as he did to him
I think it went down something like this: Longarm sends a high-priority call to Ultra Magnus, telling him he has located the traitor and must speak with him in person to relay the information as the communications network has been compromised. Magnus arrives to speak with Longarm, whose first action is to use the element of surprise to take out the Magnus Hammer. Ultra Magnus fights back, but with one arm trashed, Shockwave basically rips him a new one. Shockwave probably takes a bit of damage too, but not so much that he cannot make a run for it.
