Is anyone actually reading this much less enjoying it?

Ult Spidey is awesome, sure not as great as it was, but still good.

But after readin Ultimatum, WTF?! Blob eating Wasp? Pym then biting Blob's head off?

How can Marvel turn a blind eye to this?!

I used to like Loeb. Batman Long Halloween, HUSH and his Superman/Batman arcs were great.

Sorry, just ranting. I just enjoyed the Ult Marvel Universe too much is see it turn into this pile of crap.

Loeb has lost it. Unfortunately since his son died, his writing hasn't been the same. He needs to bow out.

And I really don't see how we can have an Ultimate Universe after this is over. They've completely destroyed it beyond repair.

Loeb may have lost it, but Marvel ultimately approves everything in his story. They want to destroy the Ultimateverse. They built their toy up and now they're completely tearing it down. Rather sad, but it's Marvel and they're "hip and cool" in touch with the readers.

And yeah, I've also rereading his S/B and Hush arcs this week. They've got some good stuff that does take liberities with characterization in certain places, but nothing like the crap he is producing in the Ultimateverse and the Hulk.

    I hated Civil War.
    I loathed House Of M.
But this? This is THE worst written, shoddily executed excuse to kill off a bunch of characters I have EVER read. Pure and utter shit all the way through.
Once again, Marvel have taken a superb idea (the Ultimate Universe) and totally shat on it. And so ends my Marvel buying; there's just nothing left worth reading now IMO.

Jeph Loeb is one of those comics creators like Rob Liefeld, Judd Winick, or Greg Land. Everybody absolutely hates them, but they keep getting high profile assignments.

Marvel only has me as a buyer right now because they've managed to keep their Annihilation-derived new cosmic fiction really readable.

I've only been half keeping up with Ultimatum, but after browsing issue three, I have to wonder what the hell is going on with Marvel. Seems like a lot of random, meaningless killing of characters they have "no further use" for (Seriously... Why kill Beast, bring him back and then kill him all over again?) and the writing in the story is just really shoddy to me. I'm glad I quit the Ultimate comics back when U. Venom was being introduced.

Also, anyone else really hate the change they put Ultimate Hawkeye through?

Same here. The Ultimate Universe is the only titles I'm reading from Marvel anymore with how they destroyed everything else. And now with Ultimatum destroying that universe...

    really?

The Holy Shit moments are just lame excuse to kill people and totally out of character. I mean Blob was never this violent to eat people and in a recent story arc, he wanted to meet his daughter. I'm pretty confident it wasn't to eat her....

I would hope not, that would just be insane to eat Your own daughter.Other peoples kids are fair game though.

I'll be the first to admit that it is silly by times, but the fact that Magneto has gone batshit and thinks he is a god is very entertaining.I guess a good way to put it would be it's like reading All Star Batman,It's a shitty book with amazing art but fun as hell to read because of it.

Greg Land is just an artist tho, and i never understood why ppl hate him. He pretty much sold the Ult FF characters and then when he left it went to shit.

Though he does pretty work, he's basicly a sketcher and near-thief of other artist's work. At least, Alex Ross uses he own models for his paintings, but Land just uses whatever he finds in old comics and magazines. I absolutely get the Land hate.

Land's run on Birds of Prey was pretty nice, too. It's a pity he realized that all he had to do was trace pictures of celebrities and porn stars in order to get a paycheck.

Speaking of Land, here's a fun read: Greg Land Guessing Game (image intensive) - NEWSARAMA

I'm pretty sure it was Mark Millar that put hem on the map with his story. The art helped but it wasn't the sole reason for the popularity.

Although you are right that it turned to crap right after.
