Marvel will be killing off Ultimate Peter Parker and replacing him with an all new Spider-Man. It really looks like they're gutting the Ultimate Universe and milking whatever they can with all the death and devastation they've done since Ultimatum

What I wonder though is how the general public will receive this seeing that this isn't really the main line Spider-Man. I mean how the heck would they know what the Ultimate Universe is anyway? I really hate sensationalist events that have become the trend

I'm fine with this. Then again I liked Ultimatum. I've always liked What If?... type stories where the unexpected happened.

Just out of curiosity, with a title like that, and a link to a USA Today article, does it really need spoiler tags? :)  Honestly, I appreciate it, because some people are too free with things that actually are spoiler-ific, it just struck me as humorous. :)

Isn't this kind of already old news.

Nice to see the Marvel Hype Machine still chugging along.

Well yeah, some people tend to be really particular about that :)  plus with the way comic companies marketing does things, titles don't necessarily mean what they do these days :)

And with all of those clones of him running around I'm sure he'll never return.

If only Ultimatum were a What If? story.

What if... Jeph Loeb completely list his shit?

And wow, Mark Bagley sucked on the facial expressions in that USA Today photo--they all seem bored rather than grief-stricken.

I'm actually really looking forward to the relaunch of the Ultimate Universe. The series was on a steady decline in almost all books save Ultimate Spider-Man. Before Ultimatum ruined everything, Ultimate X-Men was slowly becoming a rehash of all the 90's X-Men stories only formatted for trade paperbacks.

As soon as Brian K Vaughan left Ultimate X-Men it was an almost instant download spiral. What started off as a cool concept for Apocalyspe and Sinister become a terrible What If on the X-Men 90's series. No one knowing how to write an Emma Frost who was always a hero turned into a hellfire slut. Terrible stuff.

A lot of people site Ultimates 3 as the start of the decline but for me it was always the X-Men book. It was one of the flasgshit titles and ended up a 90's redux.

Anyway, I'm hoping with a relaunch all the Ultimate Titles can get soem fresh air.

so Marvel polybags Ultimate Spider-Man 160 to avoid early release spoilers, but releases spoilers on the news and the net before the book is released.....good job Marvel

Death of an iconic character...blah blah blah...bring them back in 12 months...yada yada yada. Who even cares any more? Mainline comics are a joke with very little to any redeeming qualities.

Yeah with every death, it just becomes even more meaningless.

So anyway, who are your guesses for the new Spidey? I'm guessing its the Spidey clone Jessica Drew

Okay, we're 40 issues away from Ultimate 200... Bendis created that Egyptian doohickey McGuffin that can alter reality...

Peter Parker back under the Ultimate mask in about three and a half years with the numbering reverted back to celebrate the 200th issue?

No, a new one, who will be widly different from the main-universe version in completely different ways.

Comedy Option: Ultimate Spider-Ham. Or did they do that too?

    Sounds exciting and bombastic!

I just hope it's not the Jessica Drew clone because picturing her with her breasts tapped down A) Really weirds me out and B) Reminds me of when Amazing Spider-Man relaunched about 9 years ago with Maddie Franklin as the new Spider-Man and did the same thing.
